I've seen some beads on ebay lately that have beautiful stringer with a metaillic almost mirror like quality. How is this achieved? Is it frit? Is it silver? Any ideas....I'm dying to know.

Thanks,
Sam

My guess, without seeing the picture, is Moretti silver dark plum. I think it's #288. It looks silver metallic.

Or one of the reduction stringers. Such as Iris Gold Chunk pulled into stringer...

It's reduction stringer. You make the stringer and reduce it in a propane rich flame. Brings the lead out hence the metallic look.

There are lots of reduction frits/glasses. Bullseye has some and so does moretti. The Bullseye gold is my absolute favorite. Just a little swish of the bead through a reduction flame (propane rich) and the metallic sheen pops to the surface.

Aha! You guys are so good to me. It was killing me. I'm a newbie and it really doesn't take much to stump me with this stuff.

Here's a bead that I made with Iris Gold stringer and reduced.

Hey Sam...here are some I did too with Val's mercury frit pulled into stringer and then reduced too. I haven't tried the bullseye lusters yet, but they look beautiful and I hear they are really forgiving and easy to work with too.

Pretty! I roll clear in iris gold and pull it like that. Don't like chunks all that much.
