Okay, I keep seeing this "new" technique that people are doing where they make beads with soft glass that look like boro. Is anybody willing to tell how you do it?

Do you have pictures of it? I haven't seen it yet.

There are lots of things you can do. Some are with frit, like encasing iris gold and you can do it using silver with rubino and cobalt and encasing. Loads of ways. Check Val's site and look at the frit colors. She usually has examples when there are frits up.

Thanks. If I hadn't been so lazy I would have done a search, which I did afterwards and there already is a thread with some answers. And you're right, Rebekah, it is with Iris Gold. I'm going to have to try this since the last thing I want to do is get started on boro, I have enough glass as it is. My husband would kill me if I started with another. hehe

Let me tell you I had the same question and just started experimenting.
I took a clear moretti rod and made a bead, rolled it in Val Cox's Iris Amber Green and twirled it around and did some raking, then added a touch of one of her puple frits (can't remember the name) and swirled and twirled them together.
Then I encased it in clear stringer and THAT'S when I got the boro look.
Encasing it makes it!
Hope this helps.
I don't have the beads with me today, but maybe I will post them tomorrow.
They are pretty if I do say so myself!

I didn't have it with me today where my scanner was so I will need to post it tomorrow.
And for Dawn T.. that's what I'm using... size 2.
Maybe I just think they look cool and everyone else will think they belong in fugly thread.. but I will post anyways... I'm not shy... lol
You know how you sometimes... TALK.. yourself into thinking you have a really great bead, and then upon others looking at it you realize it really wasn't all that cool after all... bwahahahah.
Well, we're a happy family here so I have no hides.
I'll show tomorrow.. promise.
Joanna
