Graphite Bead and Marble mold question

Morning All -
I just got a graphite bead and marble mold and I'm getting some of the black in my glass. Does the mold need to be treated with something or cleaned a particular way to get rid of this black ? Didn't have this sort of problem with my marver. Anyone ?

If it's brand new, it could just be graphite dust left over from the manufacturing process. Try wiping it down with some alcohol.

I wipe down my graphite tools with a coffee filter every so often to help remove any black that may find its way into my glass.

Thanks very much Chad and Debbie. Will do just what you suggest. I wiped it out with paper towel and water and it still wasn't quite enough.
