Hi everyone

I'm trying to find a really really dark brown opaque glass - I've tried all the moretti's and even the woodland brown in Bullseye, (all too light). I need one that's a much deeper darker brown than these to make a birthday chocolate bead for a friend who's a chocoholic - maybe the only way to get it is to mix colors???
Thanks for any tips or ideas, I'm kinda at a loss on this one.

Try Bullseye Oddlot Fudgsicle

It is what I use when I want a true brown.

There is a Bullseye oddlot Fudgesicle that might work. You can get it at www.bridgetownglass.com There is also one called dk sable that might work too.

Thanks Janet and Amy! I'll definitely give them a go! Isn't it funny that with all the glass you tend to accumulate, when you need just that certain special color, you don't have that one!!
Anyway, many thanks for the tips, I'm ordering some tomorrow.
Cheers dears

Also try bullseye odd lot sable. It looks light in the rod, but work up darker the longer you use it. I also use either woodland or sable with transparentdark rose brown over it. It makes a nice dark deep brown that way.

That's a brilliant tip, thanks Lynda, I wasn't aware of that about the sable - and I didn't even know Bullseye made a dark rose brown, (sounds beautiful actually!) it's now on the "must have" list.
Thanks again, mate!

Hi!
You could also try Ornela Bohemia darkbrown Nr. 1350. It is very dark, almost black if you work it hot.

Thanks for that, Verena, it sounds like it would make great "dark chocolate".

wow, all these wonderful tips - my friend will be inundated with "chocolates" that I experiment with - I was planning on giving her just one "chocolate" but it looks like she's going to be getting a whole boxful now!

Thank you so much again!
Cheers

The new lots of vetrofind browns are much truer dark brown as well (still red based, but I looks and see brown, not red) -

Thanks, Jessica, they look like the perfect colors I'm looking for. You don't by any chance ship via USPS to Tasmania, do you?

I can - my system is balking on the International shipping changes right now- but if you send me your order by email I can invoice you - you are under no obligation until you accept the invoice
