Hello, everyone! I've been out of the country for the past year and not able to torch (waaaaahhh!) so I'm really out of touch with what's new in lampworking. I'm seeing all sorts of gorgeous new glass in the S&T's - can anyone clue me in on where to find some of this stuff? Terra, etc.? I'm going to be living in Michigan (Detroit area) if anybody knows of suppliers there. Can't wait to get back to the torch. The S&T's here are incredible! What inspiration!

StephB:
Terra is by Double Helix Glassworks. They have several cool new silver colors. You can order directly from their website or I think Frantz carries them as well. Rocio has a wonderful silver line as well. Check out the vendors links from the Kiosk.

Welcome back to MI as well. I'm about 1.5 hours from Detroit so I don't know any suppliers there...internet and waiting for delivery trucks for me.

You might want to do a search on "double helix" or "silver colors." There's a VERY LONG thread on "show us what you've done with the silver colors" that you might want to look at. It's been going on for probably a year, but if you skim through it, it will take you through the development of the various silver colors from R4 and from Double Helix. Many many many pictures and lots of tips (and traumas) on working the various colors. Some of the colors have been reformulated over the past year, and some have been replaced by other colors. (DH has discontinued Olympic Rain and replaced it with Aion and then Aion 2. Kronos has been followed by Kronos 2. Not sure what else has been new and improved -- I can't keep up!)

To help you keep them straight, the Greek mythology names (Kronos, Aion, Terra, Elektra, Nyx, Gaia) are from Double Helix. The famous artist names (Picasso, Monet, Van Gogh, et cetera) are from R4.

Be warned -- all these gorgeous colors are LOADED with silver. The price of silver has gone through the ceiling, so these aren't cheap. Use as stringer or as thin encasing on a core of something cheaper -- luckily, a little goes a long way.
