I work boro on a minor with one oxycon successfully (IMHO naturally!)
I guess torch would depend totally on what exactly you want to do with boro, and if your going down the "bottles oxy" or "oxy con" route? apart from that its a personal choice, I'm sure there is loads already discussed maybe try the search function in the boro room!

I don't know why people say you can't do boro with the minor. Not only can you do it.... but it will do it well. I think the problem is when people new to boro try to work it like soft glass. what I mean, is the "same look and glow" in the glass to apply it to the mandrel. With this idea, the boro will feel stiff and hard to use. But... when it is heated to a brighter glow, it is just as soft to apply as soft glass. Of course it sets up and stops flowing a lot quicker than Moretti.... yet you also have longer working times without cracking problems.
Long answer for a short question... Yes, the minor will work boro fine. At the Florida ISGB Fall Fest, I did blown glass demos using 25mm x 4mm wall boro tubing using a minor. No problems at all.
Have fun,

We teach our boro classes on Minors. We are getting ready to switch over to Knight Little Dragons, but the Minors will do nicely. The Knight torches get a little hotter and have a better flame, I think.

yup... Knight makes nice torches. Rocio is a Big fan of the 21 jet dragon for beads.

I enjoyed learning on the Carlisle Mini CC-- Awesome for working with smaller boro. Small torch with a lot of heat. Carlisleguy is Chris Camac who not only is an instructor but sells the products he actually uses.

You certainly can work boro on a Minor -- however, if you think boro is going to be your primary interest, you'll be happier with a bigger, hotter torch (assuming your budget and your oxygen situation can handle it). On the other hand, if your plans are for soft glass and small boro, nothing wrong with a Minor.

You can work boro nice with a Minor :-)
I have a GTT and love it for both soft and hard glass. They are so nice :-D
