If I have been using a kiln for annealing beads, may I also use the kiln for metal PMC's? Will firing the clay cause a residue problem for future firing of my beads? Would it cause discoloration?
sorry if this quesion has appeared before. I haven't been able to find any previous thread on this question.
Thanks

Several years ago on the ISGB forum there were reports of problems with the silver vaporizing and contaminating the kiln. Since then, I understand that the way PMC is made has been changed to eliminate that problem.
Give the PMC manufacturers a call to confirm this.

I hadn't thought of that, thank you so much Steve. That makes perfect sense and JenKen is in my backyard kinda sorta but not really.
If your kiln is fiber, you're more likely to have problems with silver staining -- although many report no problems. I have a firebrick kiln and it's been absolutely no problem with using it for both glass and PMC. You do need a controller -- it's important to hold for at a specified temperature for a specified time.
You might search the PMC thread at the bottom of the forums.
