I saw some vetrofond glass rods listed on ebay as factory seconds. What is a factory second? Is there any reason a newbie should stay away from them?
Thanks,
Heather
Hi,
I just purchased some factory seconds from (Vetrofond) from Moretti-and-more on ebay.. I was just playing with them. I went through about 4 rods of them and had no problems. Occasionally there was a little extra little blob on the rod or the end of the rod was fractured a little but they all were fine and made really pretty beads.

a factory second is a glass rod in which the saturation of color in the rod is irregular. It may be uneven or faded in spots. An odd is a first quality rod that is shaped funny, may have some knots or bends to it. Both seconds and odds are less expensive and for a newbie, cheap is better

hmz... not all odds are less expensive, some are way more expensive than any kind of glass... wich is stupid since they where made by mistake to begin with;)

Nothing like cheaper glass to PPP with! I even use the "crappy" clear moretti people don't want for PPP.
