I am just starting out in this wonderful art of beadmaking and was wondering which one of these two are the most used
I use the moretti. I am a beginner also. Moretti is soft glass and I like to work with it

Hi i also am a newby. I started with Moretti { now called effetre } and like it. I now have alot of Bullseye as i love the many unique colors they have. I use them both, just not together as they are diffrent c o e.

All I can find locally is Moretti so that is what I use. Plus, I probably couldn't keep two different types of glass organized enough so that I didn't mix the kinds together.
However, if I had a better torch, I would live to use Boro, the beads and pendants made with it are so soft and beautiful.

I'm fairly new too. I primarily use moretti, and have occasionally used lauscha.
I would say Moretti by a landslide. It's the most common, and has the most different colors available. Honestly, I'd say boro is more popular than Bullseye. Nothing wrong with Bullseye, but it hasn't been around as long (in rod form) as other types of glass. Of the two, I prefer Bullseye. I think it works easier than Moretti, and gives better results.

I have been useinf soft galss for ever. The Bulls eye I haven't used yet./ I have used Boro. I would love to the all the equiptment for the Boro. IT is the best and the most awesome glass to use. Also the soft glass MORETTI is awesome. You can do quite a bit with it. So I do like it alot. If you can make it in Moretti then you can do it with the other.

I use moretti (effetre), vetrofond, uroboros, lauscha and bullseye. effetre has more colors and I think you get more reactions from it. But, I love bullseye - the colors are awesome (especially the new lusters) and it's a little more forgiving. Uroboros is great with all those 94/96 frits that are available so I use a lot of that with off-mandrel work.
I use Moretti, Satake, Vetrophon, Check Glass and Bullseye.
All great Glass.

Here is my 2 cents: When I first worked with glass I used boro and then I tried to use Bullseye but it was too shocky. I tried slowly heating the rods but it still seemed to throw llittle pieces kept flying all over the place. I'd almost given up on soft glass until I tried Moretti and realized I could work with it. I tried using Bullseye again after using Moretti for a year and I still didn't like it. I guess what I'm trying to say is a person should try different kinds to see what works best for them.

My recent experience is almost the opposite. I use mostly effetre rods but took a class this past weekend using bullseye - it was in the form of sheet glass cut into strips. My main impression was that it was much less shocky than effetre - but there may have been other factors at play since the class used Hot Head torches and I use a Carlisle Mini CC at home. Anyway, I am intrigued enough to order some Bullseye and play with it at home.

Stickler.
I use MORETTI (giggle) exclusively in rod form, but occasionally I pull my own rods from the glass they sell at Hobby Lobby. I don't use other glass just because I am too lazy to buy new glass and keep it separated until I have the exact set up I want.

I use and Love Effetre (also Vetrofond). I would use more Bullseye if they had a dark, reactive Ivory and a good opaque White. For what I do, the Bullseye opaques not opaque enough. Almost translucent. They have nice transparents.

When I started the only way to use Bullseye was by cutting it into strips. Moretti was in rod form. Then I soon found Colored Sands less than an hour away. They carry Moretti in a nice selection. I use Moretti (and some Lauscha purchased online).
I consider Bullseye but I can't buy it easily in my area. I have thought about ordering but stall out when I realize I have to buy basic colors and accent colors. I don't want to order just black and white for example, but I would need those, plus ivory, plus colors. So far I stick with the other COE. Same thing keeps me from starting with Uroboros or Wasser. When I started it was just sheets, now there is supply and the COE issues.
Good luck.

Of course. I don't know why but the Moretti name seems to stick. Is it because no one knows how exactly to say Effetre?

I know its made by Effetre SPA but I guess it will always be known as moretti for a good while.

I use Effetre primarily because that is what my lampwork glass teacher ordered for me when I first started. I've stuck with it because I use a HH torch, and I've heard that Bullseye, due to it's lower COE, takes longer to melt. If you you use the disposable tanks with the HH, the crappy pressure you get with #1 tanks affects the flame size after about 30 minutes of use and when the tanks get less than half full. It takes forever to melt even Effetre. Trying to melt Bullseye would probably send me into a conniption fit.

I use moretti because its more easily obtained :) Also, becuase I am just not the most orgainised person on the planet, and having beads crack sucks - I only use moretti or compatible. And, there are enough temptations to spend money without having two sets of glass!
cheers

I live 20 minutes from Frantz. Effetre and Vetro are so much easier to get. I've never tried Bullseye, but the colors are intriguing. I think Lauscha is the nicest to use. Like butta!

Mostly effetre but I am really hooked on Bullseye. They have great colors that effetre just doesnt have. And bullseyes odd lots are so yummy, lately effetres odd lots leave a lot to be desired.
