Hello!

I upgraded from a hothead to a mini cc at bead and button. So far I am loving the torch!

I have figured out how to get the oxi, reducing and neutral flames but am wondering how to adjust the size of the flame now. I turned the propane on less and then added my oxy and seemed to have a very nice small cool flame to work my blue aventurine but when I went to turn off the torch, the knobs were quite hot.

Are you not supposed to have a smaller flame? The flamethrower flame I have been getting is too hot for my aventurine. Does anyone have pictures of what the flame is supposed to look like (how big the little individual flames at the torch head are supposed to be and how small you can make them go).

I thought I was supposed to get a video from carlisle when I registered but it hasn't arrived yet. I have been trying to follow the sketch of the different flames that came with the torch but am unable to figure out just how big the entire flame really is supposed to be. I am scared I am going to ruin my torch.

I hope this made some sense.

Lonni,

I too just got a Mini CC at Bead & Button and am also loving it.

The candle size for soft glass, according to the manual should be around 3/8 of an inch (less than 1/2 inch). For harder glasses, like Boro, I believe it was supposed to be around 7/8.

I too noticed that the knobs will get a bit warm, but I haven't had them getting too hot. How long are your torching sessions before the knobs get really hot?

If you're having a "flamethrower" flame, then turn down the propane and the oxygen. Do you know what pressure your oxy and propane are at?

Propane should only be in the 2-3 PSI range and Oxy should be 3-4 times that pressure. I'm working on two concentrators, so I don't have a oxygen pressure gauge.

Anyway, I hope this helps!

Are you running on tanked oxy or oxycons? If oxycons how many? The mini cc knobs will become quite warm if you are only running one and as I understand this cannot be helped. I have a mini cc but run two oxycons and do not have a problem with the knobs heating up even when I run an oxidizing flame.
