I've decided to try some sandblasting on some of my glass. I had no idea there were so many different abrasive materials available. What is the best choice for an etched look on boro?

My choice would be 220 grit aluminum oxide---but it is really a personal choice. you can experiment with grits ranging from 600 for a very soft look, to a 110 that would be more aggressive.
I stay away from the silicon carbide that is used by a lot of sand blasters, the dust from that is pretty dangerous. Even though it is contained in a blasting cabinet, the silica dust will escape into the room, and be carried out on the piece.
You do still need to take all the safty precautions though!

If you go to the Warm Glass Board, and search sand blasting, you will find a huge amount of information. A couple hours of reading will give you a world of knowledge.
