It would probably have been easier to ask people to email if they DO NOT want to test silver glass. LOL

Then you should really be a tester! If it works for you, they can advertise that:

"Even Anne Ricketts can strike our glass!"

I'd also like to try, if you need someone with a HotHead. I have lots of experience with testing frits (http://www.listen-up.org/kitty/beads/frit.htm). ;-)

For those that care, the bead count is now over 5000!

I think silver glass hates me as much as raku hates me. Poor, poor, pitiful me. But that doesn't mean I won't keep trying. One of these days. . .

I'm thinking Kay (listenup) & Amber (*Naos*) & Nikki the Sheep Goddess (NLC Beads) & Sarah Hornik & a couple other *hardcore* hothead users would be *ideal* silver glass testers--some of us hothead users would *like* to know how the glass performs on *our* torches--so we know what to expect if *we* buy it & HOW to work it on OUR torches--there's a LOT of us you know!! And, quite a few of us have *no plans* to upgrade anytime soon--so knowing that "your glass" could be worked on "our torches" would be a HUGE selling point for you--especially if it came with special tips FOR US!!

Sent e-mail. Beautiful striking colors in your glass. Already tempted to buy some, but here's hoping I can be a tester and get it for a more affordable price!!

Thanks everyone. At this point I think it would be wise to choose from the people who have already weighed in, otherwise I will be spending the next month just reading and answering e-mails, rather than making any glass. I wish there was a way I could let everyone participate but that isn't possible.

I will be doing a little research and contacting the people chosen over the next few days. Unfortunately, because of the limited supply of glass there will not be many, so please don't feel badly if you are not one of them. I have several people in mind right now - and have already contacted a couple - but have not come anywhere near reading all the e-mails yet.

I have to admit that preference is going to be given to those who have already done testing on other glasses and shared their research work with the bead community at large. They have the experience I am looking for and have shown their willingness to help out others along the way. Both of those are a big plus in my book.

Thanks again everyone.

And Toni, I like your idea so much that both Anne and Vanessa will be getting some glass to play with. :)

Hey! I sent an email but didn't post here that I did because I was busy. I sent it yesterday? or this morning? (I have NO idea). Come on!!! Your glass is gorgeous. Pretty please, with sugar on top....

I've never had any issues with any silver glass at all. Reducing, striking, encasing.... it all works for me, including the illustrious Terra.

I wish you the best and will be sitting here hoping to be chosen. This is fantastic that you're doing this. All glass should be tested in the hands of real lampworkers.

A crucial e-mail problem has reared its ugly head at StrikingColor.com. Until it is fixed there will be no outgoing e-mails, although incoming ones can still get through. If you have ordered any glass please use the private message system here to get in touch for the moment.

Thanks,
Brad

heh. You're welcome Anne and Vanessa! :p But dang, maybe I should have said I couldn't get silver glasses to work either. ;) LOL I was thinking to me this is an important part of the testing. I'm much less interested in hearing that people with a midas touch get the expensive glass to work when the starts are aligned just right. I'd rather hear that a range of testers got various results. But then, I don't sell glass.

Well I'm not a tester but I purchased some. It has the feel of Lauscha which I love... I'll see how they turned out when I get them out of the kiln. I can't wait to see what the real testers get. If I said it was stiff like lauscha would that make sense to everyone? Maybe thick feeling? So for Tink blowing vessels it should be good... =D> Now to see how it does color wise.. I gotta find something to get hooked on besides Terra !!

Personally, I think I'd be a great HH tester because we need not only the big names but those of us who are in the ranks. I'm more than willing to be a tester. Just let me know when.

Anne Ricketts

I haven't gotten anything back yet saying I was going to be a tester, they may still be going through the emails and getting the glass shipped out.

Anne has hit the answer (and the problem) right on the nose. I apologize to everyone for the delays in responding but between orders and the e-mail avalanche, just reading the e-mails is running way behind, let alone responding to them.

I am desperately trying to catch up. I am sure everyone will understand if the primary focus right now is to make sure that those who ordered glass receive it in a timely manner.

Thanks,
Brad

No doubt Kevan. Including the thanks for the update.

I say throw darts at a map, go with the ones who are closest, or last but not least pick the last 4 posts in this thread. Starting with me.

I thought I'd go with a logical way to pick testers. See why I don't have contests?
