Hi -

I have two oxycons and one of them just quit working today. An alarm went off - not the solid beep, but - beep - beep -beep.... When I looked at the output the ball was at the bottom of the tube. I turned it off for about 20 minutes and turned it back on.....no air coming out and after about 1 min - beep - beep -beep.... Is it a goner? This is an AirSep that I bought from Suncoast less than a year ago. Seem it should have lasted longer than this!

Sounds like air compressor onboard may have failed or maybe something in electrical circuitry... Yes it should have lasted more than a year, but "stuff" does happen...

Tried the oxy con again and it is working! I think it might have gotten too hot, we have been trying not to turn on the A/C, but it has been getting kind of warm.

Whew!

beep beep beep means loss of power. it could also be an overheated compressor. They have a built in thermal switch that shuts the compressor down when its too hot, to save it from totally burning itself out to the point where it would need to be replaced.

The machine may run now, but if it shuts itself down after maybe 20 minutes or so, then it may very well be an overheating compressor.

How long have you used this machine until now (hours wise?). Do you notice any difference in your flame before this happened, or did the machine just shut off all the sudden?

Justin-

To give a ROUGH estimate of how many of my hours on this machine, 400-500. When it shut down it had been running for a few hours, but I had started torching when it was cool in the AM and the room began getting warm in the afternoon and that is when it shut down. I only noticed a difference in the flame after the machine cut off. When it started working again, it seemed to perform as it had before. It ran for several hours without incident.

I hope I have not done any permanent damage :/

Try to turn the machine on, and feel the back of the machine down by the floor. You are supposed to feel a breeze from the exhaust fan. If you dont feel anything, then its possible the fan is bad, or unplugged, which could also cause the overheating problem

I turned on the machine and there is a breeze coming out of the back near the floor and a breeze going in the back where the cleanable filter is. Seems to be back to normal.

Thanks Justin...
