View Full Interactive Version Of This Page : Throwing beads in a fish bowl?

I was thinking about putting my dud beads in the bottom of the siamese fighting fishes' bowl. (May as well do something with the wretched beads). I don't want to poison the fish with the bead release though.

I'm cleaning the beads with a metal core scraper, but I'm not convinced that I'm clearing it all out. I bought some pipe cleaners yesterday, and tested it on a bead, and got the bead much cleaner.

I was wondering if boiling the beads as well would loosen any more bead release that I may have missed. Any hazzards there that haven't occurred to me? If some break during the process it wouldn't be any great loss to mankind.

The beads haven't been annealed, just cooled down in Vermiculite.

Thanks
Wendy

Yeah, a dremel, automatic bead cleaner or a bead reamer would be most successful. I doubt bead release is good for fish.

I don't even clean beads that I throw into my fish tank granted they are goldfish, but they've been cohabitating with beads for three years and I think the release actually helps keep the tank clean.... I use franz bead release.

My fighting fish never got beads... not sure why discrimination I guess?

I would not worry to much as long as you get the majority of the bead release out.

I've been tossing them into my aquarium for 3 years, and haven't lost a fish to causes related to the beads yet. I have one goldfish in there that is over 2 years old. He is one of those big ones.

My guppies even have babies in that tank and the ones that don't get eated alive, grow up to be big guppies. LOL

I just use a dremel to clean them out, but I'm sure some of them never got cleaned at all.

I put all my duds and not perfect beads in my aquarium when I was first learning and practicing. My fish are all fine and they are tropical fish.

Thought I'd try them on the siamese fighting fish first before I try them in the sea horse tank....
