Need tutorial for encasing

My incasing skills suck big time I have tryed what the passing the flame book says just does not work well for me. Anyone have a tutorial on how to do encasing I just want to encase something without the glass under floating up. Or the ends to be completly covered. I get one end covered good but then the other end sucks. HELP PLEASE!!!!!!

Thanks Kendra, I thought I had seen some tutorials but could not find them. I will have try the way you said.
