Running 4 minors for class setup. How does one do the math for botteled vs concentrators? I bought the concentrators but thinking bottled oxy would be better...less noise, etc. What do you think??? Thanks! Bkbeads

Well, basically, you figure out the volume of the cylinder in cubic feet. Then, you find out the consumption rate for your torches. If one torch uses 10 cubic feet per hour (CFH), and you have a tank that contains 300 cubic feet of oxygen, then you would know that that tank should run that torch for about 30 hours. If you run three of those torches at the same time, then the tank would last about 10 hours.

Now, with concentrators, you will know the volume that the concentrator puts out - it is usually in liters per minute (LPM). You then find out the consumption rate of the torch (usually rated in CFH, but you can convert it to LPM easily enough). The question is not how long you can run the torch, but rather how completely you can run it with a concentrator. So, if you have a 10 LPM concentrator and your torch uses 10 CFH (roughly 5 LPM), you could feed two of those torches with that concentrator.
