Opal Yellow or Silver Pink?

This is probably a REALLY stupid question :)..........

but after unpacking after our big move, I could have sworn I had a lot of Opal Yellow and Silver Pink, but all the rods look sooo similar. I have had these rods for a year or two, and it all looks the same except one rod clearly labeled as Opal Yellow, and I cannot have just 1 rod of that!, but they all look like Silver Pink, most all of the rods are different shades, so...........

My question is: How do I tell them apart by laying them side by side?? or am I going to have to heat them to find out?

If you melt the ends of them, you may be able to tell a difference.

Drats, I didn't want to do that, I was looking for an easy way out!

Hi Carrie,

I just bought some silver pink and I too couldn't believe how similar it looked to opal yellow.
Lynn is right about melting them to find out, but you can divide them into "most likely" piles by this. Look at the top of the rods and you will see rings of layers of glass. The silver pink seem to always have a pinky center color and the opal a yellow.
Then do the melt test to be sure.

This is what I look for also. Almost all of my Opal Yellow is a lot more golden than any of my Silver Pink, although I do have some Silver Pink that is yellow in the rod. Very frustrating!!!
