Hi, I have a bit of red-copper green and carnelian (1/4 pound of each which is a lot for me because i have just started making beads) but i can't really think of anything to do with it. Red copper green always just turns green whenever i try to use it and even if it did stay red I can't really think of anything to do with it... I really don't have any idea about carnelian either... I dont even know what color it is suppost to be. Whenever I make a bead with it, it turns a weird pinkish flesh color. Is it suppost to be like that?
Thanks
Raku powder looks GREAT on Carnelian (like a natural stone) and Red Copper Green is gorgeous on blue Opalino and also over silver... and it's lovely encased.

This is the old red copper green, I have no idea how the new stuff is, but I partially encased these to get the rich colors of pink & terra cotta. I also heavily reduced the ends to get the copper and metal colors to come out. It is so fun to play with! Don't melt down your base bead!!! Wind it on as far away from the flame as you can to keep it from turning green, and encase it before you melt it down. That brings out all the pinks for me.

Wow Suzy - Those are amazing!!! I've had a batch of red copper green collecting dust for a long time because I didn't have the slightest clue what to do with it.
I can't wait to get my hands on it now!!! You've totally inspired me!!!
Thanks so much for posting!
Amy
I love the pinks I get with carnelian. The cooler and faster I work it the more fleshy it is. But if I work it hot but not scalding it gets more salmony. Here is a recent example of something simple
I haven't worked a lot with the red copper green, but carnelian is one of my favorites! This is a carnelian vessel with dark silver plum embellishments:

Thanks :-) For some reason, that color combo makes me think of naughty big girl underwear.

Do you have a carnelian whip to go with them Tink?

Not yet, Suzy, but my birthday is next week... ;-)
Thank you, Elizabeth! I should get those colors out again and play...

I just posted this pretty on Justbeads. It's carnelian opalino (love that stuff!) with Val Cox's Georgia Peach frit sprinkled on and randomly twisted.
