Hello to all! This is the first time that I have posted. I am so inspired by everyones wonderfull work and have learned so much from this site- it's my all time favorite website. Anyway, enough gushing. I was just wondering if anyone could pass on the technique to making the cool beads that end up in a "teardrop" shape after they have been pulled with tweezers (that's what it looks like to me). The mandrel hole is in a teardrop shape as well.. Is this done with a "teardrop" shaped mandrel or is it done off mandrel? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! JustJoan
maybe if you had a picture someone could help you out.....
to me it sounds like you would need to use Boro....but i could be wrong i am a newbie also......

Sounds like you are talking about what some people call wishing stones. They are made off mandrel and the hole can be made with a hot tungsten pick.
Can you put a link to a thread that has a pix?

I may be way wrong, but is the teardrop shaped bead in this post what you're talking about?

Yes Kay! That is what I am talking about. Sorry I did not post a pic (don't know how to post a link- I'm slightly computer illiterate still). Wishing stone sounds familiar. I am not familiar with working off mandrel however. How is it done? I would love to try it- it looks so cool! Thank-you all for the feedback.

It is pretty, isn't it - and well done, but I can't say how Heidi did it.
I can tell you how to post a link though. When you're on the page you want to direct folks to, highlight the URL up at the top of your browser. Click with the right mouse button and select copy. Then when you're in the window that has the reply box, just right click again and select paste. The address won't be highlighted after you paste, but after you post the message, it will be. That's how I posted the one in the message above.
Have fun!

There is a tutorial by Paula (Venbead) in the Boro room in the Newbie thread for this type of pendant (they are done off-mandrel). The name "Wishing Stone" is something that I made up a couple of years ago, in honour of my Mum's courageous battle, and is what I sell them as (complete with magical Wishing Powers!). Others just call them "pendants"!

Val whenever I see that shape I now consider it a "wishing stone" and think of you...
