Hi there,
Thought I'd try to see if anyone could help me out...I'm wondering how to make those disc beads with the ruffled edges. Any pointers or point me to a tutorial! Thanks in advance!
Cindy
Cindy - What I do is make a base bead, then wrap a tall layer around the middle and melt in a bit, then take my tweezers and bend the layer up, then down around the bead.
The bottom picture below clearly shows the technique in my response above as I have 2 different colors shown.
The top picture is a different technique. Here I pressed the bead into the lentil mold and I had extra glass (ie a thick layer around the bead) and I ruffled this.

I'm not sure what you are looking for but here's a tutorial for a ruffle bead. I made one once, it was fun. :)

I've used the same tool as Laurie for a couple years. You can also do a thin bead and twist making a thinner version of what is shown above. They also work for ears, petals, and other times you want a little scoop in your glass.
I have those pliers too with the round on one side and the concave on the other. I got mine from http://www.widgetsupply.com/page/WS/PROD/jeweler-pliers/BCY41. They have tons of great stuff. Everytime I go to their website I find stuff I didn't know I needed.
