View Full Interactive Version Of This Page : What's Your Favorite 104 Clear and Why?

For about 2 years I have been using the 90 COE Bullseye, which is very good clear and the color palette is decent. Recently, I started using the 104 COE again and I tried the clear by Lauscha, Vetrofon, Kugler, and even the new #006 by Effetre. The 006 lives up to it's billing as an ultra clear, but is also ultra hot. If I want to use this much heat I can use Bullseye glass. However, the 006 (thank God they didn't name it 007) makes great punties and other hot tools. If they made the 006 glass as tubing one can only imagine what would be possible, given the high heat requirement.

So I finally had a Great glass day for the first time in months. It was fun to try this clear and that one and I came up with a new style that is like a micro-cosmic black hole. They are still in the kiln and as soon as I can I will post an image or 2. Tucson is only a month away and with Xmas being the ghost of Xmas past it's time to really work!!!

I still have no idea what the big deal is about the color Black Nebula, other than if they need shareholders for the parent company, sign me up. I just need a large batch of good clear that has WOW!!! clarity.

Have a Grrrrrrrreat New Years.

I rarely make anything encased with 104 for all the reasons you've mentioned... but overall, I prefer the Vetrofond clear. Moretti "Super-clear" is decent too, though nothing like what I've gotten spoiled with in Bullseye. Both require a lot of picking, skimming, and slow heating to get a good clear encasement. Using a larger diameter rod helps immeasurably, though.

Lauscha is nice and clear, but too stiff for my tastes, and I'm still wary of cracking due to issues I've had in the past. If I used primarily Lauscha I'm sure I'd love it. I'd love a soft, clean, truly compatible clear for the Italian 104 glasses.

Diamond Clear. The new CiM clear is very nice also.

I guess we all love Diamond Clear so much that we forgot the "why" part. It's super easy to melt, crystal clear, doesn't burn or bubble and is super easy to use. Also, it plays well with everything including all the different silver glasses. I haven't had anything crack yet. I'm no pro at encasing but Diamond Clear makes me look like a pro.....how's that for a quotable endorsement?

I've used moretti, vetro, lauscha, and the moretti superclear. I went back to lauscha. I just got some TAG clear to test, and hope to play with it today. In the rod it looks amazing-I've yet to see a clear this well, clear, in the rod. I've also got some CIM clear on the way, I think, so I'm looking forward to checking that out.

I use Diamond clear as well. In fact, aside from the plain Moretti clear, Diamond clear is the only clear we sell.

LOL, with so much heavy endorsement, I'm going to have to try the Diamond Clear!

Diamond Clear! In addition to all the reasons mentioned above, I can use it with silver glass and have the peace of mind knowing that there won't be any cracking issue.

Just got the CIM Clear - am a bit concerned about compatibility since some of the CIM glass has varying annealing temp (as high as 1050F for Cirrus!) . . .

Diamond Clear! In addition to playing well with the silver glasses, it's the only clear I've found that plays nice with the ASK colors as well. I've got a bead of ASK Violet Nights - specifically states DO NOT ENCASE - that I decorated with plunged flowers of a silver glass and then completely encased with diamond clear, and another bead of Caramel Apple decorated with DH Gaia and completely encased with diamond clear. After almost a year, there are no cracks in either one of them. It's worth every extra penny I pay for it.

Another vote for Precision 104 Diamond Clear---
I tried Lauscha, loved it, and just about went crazy with the cracking...

Yeah, all these endorsements for Diamond Clear have me clamoring to try it...

I've just stuck with Vetrofond 8-9mm since it's cheap and works for me 80-90% of the time...

My vote goes to the new Reichenbach 104 clear - totally awesome - no scum - no scratches - melts like a dream.....

You can chalk up another one for the Diamond Clear.

Although, I do want to try the CIM clear and the Moretti super-clear soon.
