I just got a bunch of reichenbach cane. I plan on using it to make whole beads, not just as frit. I am wondering if I need to anneal this glass differently than Morretti? My current schedule is hold 950, anneal 960 for 45 minutes, down to 800 hold for 15 minutes, down to 700 then off.

Hi Teresa,
I've been using Reichenbach cane too, and have annealed it right along with my Moretti beads with no problems. Haven't seen any cracking yet.

It's in a close range. It may be a little hotter for annealing temp, but not much. I'm sure 960 is in the annealing range for this glass. Just saok a little longer. ;)

Thanks you guys! I couldn't wait for an answer so I tried a few yesterday and they seem fine. I also tried some of my COE 96 frits and some morretti rose cane just to see what would happen. I used them sparingly. I figured that if I can use small amounts of reichenbach frit and stringer on a Morretti base, I should beable to use small amounts of Morretti on a Reichenbach base? I usually get into trouble when I "figure" :p
They also came out fine. Anyone one have any thoughts on this? Are these beads going to fall apart in a few weeks or is it ok to follow the 15% rule?
I did notice that Reichenbach seems to develope bubbles easier with in the bead base. I don't have this happen often with Moretti, but with the Reichenbach it happened with several of them. I think it needs a cooler flame maybe?

I've been mixing it with Moretti too and haven't had any problems, but then I'm pretty fearless when it comes to this kind of thing.
It does seem to bubble easily, especially when it's marvered. But then I'm cooking the crap out of it to begin with, so that's not helping...

Hey Lynne,
LOL! I knew I couldn't be the only one who likes to live dangerously ;)
Next I want to try some enamels and see how that goes. I'm still not sure if I really like this glass, in general. They do have some nice colours, but the place where I get it here in Germany doesn't have a very wide selection yet, especially with the transparents. The rods I got are really inconsistant in size, most of them are more like stringer thickness. They sell it by weight for this reason, but I would rather make base beads with a decent sized rod.
Oh well, it's fun to play anyway :p
Hi Teresa, Where did you buy it? The Volkmanns?
I got their new price list in the mail today and saw that they are carrying the canes now as well as frit.

Hi Kikki,
It seems everyone is carrying it now. I got mine from Glas Design Schäfers http://www.glasdesign-schaefers.de/index.php?VID=0l2XnxXH72qeYNzP
And from Glassulger
