Hi rverk47,
I'm a newbie too. Have you tried Kim Affleck's seahorse twisty tutorial?

It's working pretty well for me. With a little more practice I might even be able to get a uniform thickness!

Sometimes I auction sets on eBay. Nothing now but there are a couple other sellers that sell sets occasionally. You may want to check there once in a while.

Hi rverk47,

I've been torching under a year so pretty new too and the thing that really helped me the most to make acceptable (not wonderful) twisties was to use a larger, bare mandrel instead of a punty to attach to the rh (if you are righthanded) side of the pull. For some reason when you stick the hot metal mandrel into the gather it really seems to stick and then is easy to remove when cool. I keep the base glass rod (a transparent is best because it's not as soft) on the lefthand side and the twisting is easy holding and twisting with both. Also, once you get a few going, try to keep the pull straight - the two sides opposite one another.

Just PPP and you'll see improvement each session and be proud that you can make the colors you want.

Heidi von FrozynFire occasionally sells FABULOUS twisties - so does James at Black Swamp Beads (I think that's the name). You might try PMing them to see if that have or are willing to make twisties as special orders!!

Judi B:waving: :waving: This works so well, I have covered my work table with twisties, I only want to make twisties!! Perfect every time. I took a class from Anne Rickets and she teaches a really great way to use them in beads. Check out her site. http://www.amrglassworks.net. Twist away!!! Barb
