I just plugged in my new Bullet, and fired her up. The center candle of the inner flame is considerably longer than the other 6. Is this normal? If the opening is larger isn't it allowing more propane and then causing the flame to be reducing? The retailer I bought it from is not aware if this is a normal characteristic for that torch and there are no others available (obviously) to compare it to, or more importantly exchange it with.
Any feedback from Bullet users would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I hope you get an answer. I remember seeing this torch at Arrow Springs, and I think the center candle was longer, but I'm not certain. Have you tried putting a reducing glass in front of it to see if there's a change?
I know that there are some torches that are like that. I think Cynthia's Arnold has a longer center flame. Other than that how do you like your new torch? I bet you'll be making some 1/4 lb. beads in no time!

PS It was nice to see you today, and I loved looking at all your beads! They are fabulous!

Fingers crossed that someone will chime in soon. I did make a longer bead than usual, and found out the hard way that the center fire is slightly cooler than a mini CC. I have to train myself to crank up that outter flame once in a while.
I don't notice any drastic results as far as reduction. It fogged up my rubino a bit (but rubino is touchy anyway) silver glass and clear both seem ok.
If I hear back from someone and the center candle is not supposed to be the way it is, I will exchange it very soon for a HellCat. Wish me luck, and thank you!
Kim - I don't know about Knight torches but you may want to post another thread asking about the Knight Little Dragon since the inner fire of the Bullet is that.
Bethlehem torches do have the inner candle for the center fire longer and the tip slightly yellower - that's the normal neutral flame of my Piranha/Barracuda. It doesn't reduce.
Sorry I can't help!
Talk soon . . . I will mail you something something tomorrow! ;-)
Doesn't Cosmo have experience with this torch? Perhaps PM him and ask.

Kim,
I emailed another customer that bought a Bullet burner from me, asking him this question. Here is his answer:
I've found the same and accepted it as the way the torch is designed. I
thought maybe for for a more pinpoint fine flame for intricate work. I
find that the valves are a bit touchy and they get quite hot after a
while. A minor annoyance unless you work at one setting all the time. I
find I'm always adjusting the heat depending on what I'm doing often
several ties while making a single bead. Other than that I quite like
the torch and it fits nicely between my Nortel minor, and the ssq which is
too large for bead making. Another thing I like about the bullet is that I
can run it on a single oxygen generator when working with soda/lime glass.
It likes the second generator hooked up for boro. Like everything, it
takes a while to get comfortable with new gear and the bullet and I are
getting there. Cheers, PAul

Well Kim...I think it's time to send it over to my house and leave it here for a couple of years so I can test it for you. No charge of course:twisted:
I hope you figure it all out. I'm sure you will. I know when I got my Red Max, I had to make friends with it. As long as it's not defective, and it doesn't sound like it is I hope you love it!!! I used one at Arrow Springs, but I can't remember the inner flame being longer. If it was, I didn't notice it. I agree with Squid. I know when I was looking into a new torch, Cosmo suggested the Bullet. And maybe Craig could help you at Arrow Springs.
P.S. I'm in love with my trade beadie:-D:-D:-D
They are all like that. It doesn't effect the flame chemistry or adjustability or anything like that.

Kim,
I checked the candles on my Knight torches---on the little dragon 7, they are even and on my little dragon 21, they center flame is longer...I'd never really noticed it before. It isn't more yellow though; it is the same color as the others just a bit longer and a bit wider. Since Hayley said it is the same inner workings, thought I'd check it out...hope it helps.

Thanks so much guys!!!
I talked to Andy at Knight, and he said it is a common characteristic. Ofcourse it will take some getting used to, but I am generally happy with my purchase...that is until Cynthia came along and found a great deal on one in the Melting Pot and rubbed it in my face! (Kidding! ...and I love my bead more!)
Happy torching all!
