I'm in need of suggestions for ventilation. My worktable is in front of a window, in the summer I have a dual fan that closes in the window and works as an exhaust. In the winter this isn't practical, I end up with a piece of foam board insulation with a hole cut in it to accomodate the hose which I close the window on. No ventilation, which is a no-no. I need something that I can close in the window that won't allow tons of 20 degree air to seep in and that is removable when I'm done torching. Any suggestions?? Here's a photo of my setup.

Hi Cyndi,

Check this thread starts w/post #16 http://www.lampworketc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8000 (DiPam has a sweet set up and she is VERY helpful).

Thanks Roseanna- that is a nice setup! I was thinking more of something the size of my "summer" dual fan unit that closed in the window and perhaps something small that would set on the table, something I can move around easily...kind of what DiPam has in reverse. We're still renovating our living room where I'm set up so that's not my permanent location. Lol, I've been there a year though.... I wonder if I'd get outvoted if I took over permanently?

It may be possible to cut a "panel" from some material like foam board or thin plywood and use foam weather striping tape on it to seal around window frame... And place it into window frame just like "summer" fan... Use a fan (hood) and duct tubing to direct gases out through a hole in window panel when torching. You could have something like a piece of plywood on hinges and a latch to close up opening (form a door) when you want to "seal up room" when you are not working with torch. With little thought it could be attractive and functional.
