Since a few people asked to see a simple encased floral video and a vine cane video I went ahead and did both. They took hours to upload! I really didnt want to speak in them, but since it was requested I went ahead and talked thru them...funny thing is when I played them back I had to turn the volume all the way down so I didnt have to hear myself LOL! Hope these are helpful!

OK, Samantha ~ Now I KNOW I LOVE YOU!!!! Those were both really amazing, and I'm so thankful for you sharing them with us!!! Although I've got the vine cane down pat, the florals are a challenge to me...I've been trying the encasing thing using a continuous wind of clear stringer - your way of doing it looks way easier and a lot less frustrating! Of course, I'm on a Hot Head, but it still may be worth a try. I do have two questions - both for my benefit and maybe for the benefit of others watching:

1. What type of torch are you on? (I'm hoping one day to upgrade; what you have there looks like maybe just what I want!)
2. What type of clear (for encasing) are you using? I use Moretti but am "upgrading" to CiM asap; if I tried to use the "dap on" method you are using for the encasing with the Moretti, I find I end up with a lot of bubbles...maybe I just need to practice more!

Thanks again - and I just want to say that it's like sitting down next to you in your home and having you do a "one on one" demonstration for me - thank's for the "invite" - I know everyone will enjoy their "visit".

Glad you all like the Videos! DeAnne I am using a minor, I was on a hot head for years before this torch. I am using vetrofond crystal clear glass and I do get bubbles some times, I am not really dapping it on as I am spreading the clear if that makes sense?

thanks so much for the new videos. i also have a hot head and things just don't go that fast and easy but with patience i will get those flowers yet. you did a good job and i also like your "monologue" as you go, it is better then watching a silent movie. great job.

Thanks, Samantha! I appreciate the info. on the torch and glass you use - and the clarification on the method used to encase..."spreading" sounds way more sensible to describe your technique; "dap" was a bad choice of words! Since you have experience on a Hot Head, would you say this is possible to accomplish using the same basic method? Do you have any suggestions for us still using the HH torch?

Gratefully,

Thanks Karen.....I guess I am just one of those people who hates the sound of my own voice.

DeAnne, yes you can do it the same way on a hot head. The only problem I had on the hothead was the scum, so when I did florals I used MAPP gas instead of propane. I honestly thought I would never give up my hot head because I loved it and if it hadnt been for my mom coming for Christmas and going to Asheville, NC with me I would still be on one. Now I dont see giving up my minor, but I imagine some day I will and get an even bigger torch.

I put another new video up in my sleep last night LOL! it's on hollows which will be the prelude to my fish bead just as soon as I get a chance to work on that too.

Thanks for the videos! It is so helpful to me (beginner) since I've learned from books. Actually seeing the beads being made is SO helpful.

I made a perfect floral bead thanks to your video, Samantha and then put a froggy on it and you can barely see the pretty flowers!

I think it has to do with melting the sides in first. I had never heard that before so I tried it and the first one was only bad because of the burnt red flowers but the bead was good though.

I counted once how many bad encased florals I have and it was well over 60. I have high hopes now!

I am glad that is working for ya Carol. One thing I do to make sure the froggie doesnt cover all the flowers is place a small dot of glass on the madrel where the prettiest flower is, then I flip it over and put the frog on the exact opposite side of that dot.
