Hey guys! I've got a quick question I'm hoping you can help me with. I think it's pretty easy, but I'm unsure of the answer so I thought I'd check with you all first! :)

I'm going to make a bracelet for my mother-in-law (using some of my beads) for Christmas. She really likes bright colors, so I thought I'd make some beads in oranges and yellows. My question is this: Which Moretti color gives you gorgeous, orange striations throughout the glass? I thought it was 412, Dark Yellow, but am not exactly sure. I've seen lots of beads using this color, and I love how it has that "fire opal" look to it. Attached is an image of the color I'm talking about.

I wasn't sure if this color was an odd lot, or if you can acheive the striations with a basic Moretti yellow (or orange), using lots of heat. I don't make a lot of beads in yellow (despite the fact that it's my favorite color!), so I wanted to see if someone could point me in the right direction before I wasted any glass. :)

Thanks in advance for your help! Oh...and have a WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING!

I love that color! It is 412 Dark Yellow. I've noticed that some rods work up streakier than others, though.

Great! I was guessing right! :) Do I need to do anything to get it more "streaky"? More propane, oxygen?

Thanks, Kalera!

It seems like getting it relaly hot helps bring out the orange... that's as much as I've figured out about it though.

I LOVE this color!!!! BURN IT!!!!!!!!!!! It will turn orange. I will let it bubble a bit here and tere when making a bead. Burning is the key to a sussceful orange. It looks a bit like tequilla sunrise. Ahhhhh one of my fav colors.

I received some orange (422) and I got about the same color than your picture.
Hope this will help.

Here's an example :

I have some of the 422 that looks like that. It is the newer orange, I think. I hate orange, but like it when it is streaky like that.

This reminds me of the "Big Stick" popsicle I used to get as a little kid off the ice cream truck!

It's much easier to get the orange streaks if you have an oxy propane torch. If you are on a HH, you could try it by working as hot as you can but you would probably have better results with using orange.

Working with the HH torch gives Effetre dark yellow a very nice school bus yellow, not streaky at all. One of the best reasons to own a HH. :)

Since this thread was 6 years old, does anyone know if this glass has changed since the original posting?

Oh shoot... I didnt notice it was that old... so the chances are my batch is newer stuff than that, and wont do the same anymore?
