I've been thinking about getting a nugget or pillow press for a LONG time. I have a Cattwalk base, but I've used a friend's Zoozii press and liked it.
Has anyone used both Cattwalk and Zooziis extensively? Which would you get?
Which has a better shape, in your opinion? (Nugget or Pillow)
I've bought so many presses and sold every one of them!

I've had both and I prefer the Zooziis nugget. (Although I do love many of the other Cattwalk shapes.)
The beadhole on the Zooziis goes through the flat walls of the bead so it is easier to create the bead. The sloped edges are on the non-beadhole sides.
The Cattwalk bead is the opposite way which makes it a little more difficult to get a good bead hole.

Oh, I had the puffy pillow that you're talking about Mary Beth, and didn't like it. I think I sold it to Nikki (she's bought most of my used presses!).
I'm talking about the sleek pillow: http://www.cattwalk.com/Pillows.htm (2nd on page)
And this one: http://zooziis.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=149

Sheila - I like Zoozii's presses better . . . simply because I don't need to plan ahead (as in making sure that the press I am using is in the base). I have the nugget trio - love that shape but never use the two smaller sizes! I love the largest of the trio size AND the medium +. I even had Amy's dad custom make me a Nugget Large that is thinner!

I have the sleek pillow too. I guess I should use it and see how well I like it!
I think that the basic shape is the same as the puffy pillow though - hence the same problem with the beadholes at the tapered edges.
I'll look in a few minutes when I go downstairs to ramp down my kiln.

Well, I was wrong! The sleek pillow has the beadhole going through the flat sides - not the tapered sides - just like the Zooziis nugget. It also seems to have a slimmer profile than the nugget. I guess I'm going to have to try it now:p
I have Catt's sleek pillow press and don't have any problems with the holes, where you get that sharp edge that sticks out. I like the tapered shape and the smallest size makes great earrings. All you have to do is make a fat barrel and press, then add dots to the corners if you want them defined and a quick fire polish.
On a scale of 1-10 of hard to use Cattwalk shapes, I'd give it a 3.

I'll take cattwalk every time. I have so many presses its not funny. Both Cat's and Zoo's and I never use Zoo's. Don't get me wrong Zoo's presses are well made and designed.
But the genus of cattwalk is the volume of glass needed for each of the graduated presses are the same. For example the pillows, lentil and buttons are all the same. This is a hugh help and makes switching back and forth a breeze

My vote is for the Zooziis presses. I have some of both and I hate to have to mess around with the base on Cats

I had the sleek pillow and I just couldn't get it right. So I sold it. And it's not like I'm a beginner with presses either.
I'd recommend the Zooziis any day. Much easier.
I love my pillow from mikes brass for glass! It is probably the press I go back to most often! ( I have cattwalk and zooziis and coon valley and mikes) I just got the nugget from the press game and plan on using it tonight. I'll let you know!

Zoozii.
I have both and actually use both but I prefer the Nugget. The sleek pillow is a tiny bit more rectangular.

I have both the Kalera nugget and the Special nugget and love them both.

Thanks for all the responses, everyone. I hadn't noticed the difference in corners; thanks for bringing it up, Dawn. Keep your eye on the garage sale for another press when I decide I don't like this one, either. (Kidding!)

I am a Cattwalk fan. I actually prefer the freedom of no pins. Both are great however.
After using a pillow and a nugget last night side by side I realized that I liked the pillow better. Although The nugget is kindda nice, I thought I could get better edges easier with the pillow. (please understand that I did not make many and have had the nugget only a few days I may be biased) With the Pillow (mine is Mikes brass for glass) I use a cylinder bead press and usually get it first try. with the nugget No matter how hard I tried I always found myself with one corner that needed glass! (not a big PITA but still, It was easier to get nice corners with the pillow)
The pillow is more rectangular and the nugget is more square. I'll stick with my tile trio for the squareness.

The Nugget is a square shape, the Special Nugget is the Nugget profile but in a rectangle. That one is in the game too, so if you want to compare rectangular shapes, that would be the one.
ooo! I get to do more stalking!! lol I love the press game!!!

Thanks for the responses, everyone. Dawn is going to loan me her Nugget press so I think the decision will be easier. Thanks Dawn!
