View Full Interactive Version Of This Page : effetre dark teal transparent
Possible problems with dark teal transparent, and was wondering if this is one of the effetre colors that cannot be encased. I tried the pleated bead with a dark teal transparent, white, and amythest twistie. The bead came out of the kiln shattered this morning. I don't think it was the annealing since I had some really huge wonking beads in there that turned out fine, and when the bead isn't annealled properly I believe it usually will split down the middle. This bead was shattered. All I can think of is it was the dark teal...something I don't usually reach for on the shelf that often. I used vetrofond crystal clear to encase. I encase alot and have never had any problems with the vetrofond clears. The bead would have been nice too.....

I have no problem with mine and I use it just as you described, for pleated twisties, with Vet Clear as encasing. Maybe you got a bad batch? I dunno. But it's one of my favorite colors so I use it a lot.

It sounds like you might have mixed a little incompatible glass in there, like Bullseye, etc. I've used a lot of dark teal, both encased and as encasement, and haven't experienced that sort of problem with it. It does sound more like a compatibility issue than thermal shock.

I've never had a problem encasing dark teal, I do it frequently
Okay, thanks for the info. I guess the bead wasn't meant to be. It was definately some sort of incompatibility, but I only have 104 glass. Maybe it was just a fluke. I might try and see if I can do some sort of compatibility test and see what happens.

I've used it many times, both as part of twisties, and encased with a layer of dichro, never a problem.
P.S. It's really gorgeous under silver or light blue dichro!
I tried and had no issues with it, but that is weird... keep trying!
