Has anyone used this kind of oxycon? Any info about reliability, or who makes it? Would it be a wise purchase?
Thanks,
Judy

I do -- Love it!!!
I started out last year with a mini CC and an M-10 (Jim Murphy at Carlisle is who I dealt with, and he was kind enough to outfit me with everything I'd need to get up and running along with a lot of good advice), which I've been very happy with. When our Canadian dollar started gaining ground, my darling husband decided I'd may as well get me some more equipment (since I've become an addict to glass), and after speaking to Jim again, he recommended te EX-15. Got a good price on it; and even though the shipping experience was somewhat poor (they managed to damage the box and break one of the wheels), service from the manufacturer was great (he sent a replacement wheel right away), when I finally got the courage to hook it up, it worked GREAT!!! I've only been playing with it about a month now, and I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree, so there's still a lot I'm learning as I go along, but so far, I'm loving it!
I'm not knowledgeable enough to be able to answer questions you might have, but I'd recommend contacting Jim Murphy at Carlisle (1-800-922-1167) -- he's very knowledgeable and helpful.

The Extreme Oxygen machines are made by Paul Ridgeway, one of the initial founders of Unlimited Oxygen. At this time, Paul is assuring he has them in stock ready for immediate shipment.
The Artisan's Buyers Cooperative is running a promotion special on Extreme Oxygen machines:

Joyce - Thanks for your seal of approval. Glad to know someone out there's got one.
Dennis - Does Extreme Oxygen have a website to order direct, or would I have to join the ABC registry? I wonder how long that sale is going on. Also, I would think that 2 EX -05 would be better than having one EX - 15, cuz you'd have 10 lmp rather than 8 lmp. The price would be the same! Thanks for your response.

Extreme Oxygen doesn't have a website. Several companies besides us sell their machines. The ABC introductory sale ends June 1st.

No problem. Extreme Oxygen doesn't have a website and I don't know if they're planning to create one. They had a great display at Las Vegas GlassCraft Expo and it appears their sales are growing steadily. Because they are selling through distributors and not direct, perhaps they feel they don't need a website? I do know that they've built up an inventory of machines so they can ship out as soon as ordered. Perhaps they feel their time is better spent doing that?

I have an EX-15 feeding a Lynx and love it. I work boro with it (marbles to 1"-1 1/2") and decided I could live without the full rage of tanked ox.Unless you are in full prodo mode with boro, I'd recommend it. Two of them would cure the prodo deal,at least for torch's up to the Lynx. My understanding is the difference between an M15 and an EX-15 is that one is named M-15 and the other EX-15.

Forgot to add, two EX-5's would give 10 lpm but at 7psi.(5lpm @7psi X 2), the pressure does not double. If your recommended torch settings for ox are higher than 7 psi, you'll starve the little darling. If you hooked up a 5 psi conc with a 7 psi unit ,it would not add up to 12 psi. It would add up to 7 psi due to the broken 5 psi unit.

Kevin,
I'm planning on purchasing a Mini CC or a Bethlehem Betta, and want eventually to be able to do small boro, an M-15 was initially recommended, then someone else, said just get two M-5's and you'd have more lpms, which are what count for less $. I thought I had all this nailed down!

Hi Judy,
It's super confusing when you start to get data on oxy conc's in the forums.I speak from experience as I wanted out of the tank world and thought I could find what I need or, more to the point, what my torch would need quickly with all the info available. HA! The number to set your purchase goal is the oxygen psi recommended for the torch. So two 5 lpm's will give 10 lpm of ox, but only at 7 psi. OK for soft glass, but you'll never push the flame for much boro work.My Lynx needs 10-15 psi, so even at 10 lpm, 7 psi is not going to provide oxygen at a fast enough rate to burn the fuel needed for the high heats you need for boro. You can do it at the lower psi, but you better learn kiln striking because your flame won't be very oxidizing for some of the cool silver glass colors that give your work some pizzazz.
Just my opinion, hope all goes well.

Kevin,
Thanks for explaining that so well. Knowing the dif between lmp and psi makes a huge difference. I was just going by what people suggested for the particular torch (which was also helpful), but now I know why as well. No, I'm not up for learning to kiln strike right now - I've got enough to learn!
Where'ja buy your EX-15?
Judy
Judy,
I got mine from heritage glass. It was on sale at the time for $700,no ship charge. The unit Dennis Brady mentioned is a good price, even with shipping ($600 + $45 ?) I'd go for it. Good luck and be patient with your glass.

Put this on your shopping list for your trip to Wale. They're distributors for Unlimited Oxygen (http://www.unlimitedoxygen.com/). :) I'm reasonably certain they can help you put together a torch-oxycon package that will work out for you. And save you a bundle in shipping, too!
Unlimited oxygen carries the same unit as the EX-15, theirs is the M-15 and I dare anyone to show the difference.Karen's right, you may get a better package from Wales. Just saying it's the same unit.I understood Unlimited OX and Extreme OX are run by brothers who started out together and parted ways.

Karen, and Kevin,
Thanks so much for all the help! I'll see what kind of price I can get. :)

The main difference is that Unlimited Oxygen has been around... Paul is Jacks brother and did split from Unlimited Oxygen. I've been asked to carry the Extreme Oxygen units and just don't feel comfortable putting my name on the line at this point to carry them. Maybe that will change... but who knows. I've got to have some questions cleared up first.
That being said...
I can extend that ridiculously low price of $600 for M-15s to LE members. I'll even do $40 on the shipping (lower 48 )... just because I love you guys. ;) PM me and we'll get you hooked up with the original M-15s... :D

Heck of a good deal Brent! I love the one I got from you, runs my Betta fantastic! Heaven only knows I don't miss that warning signal that used to sound whenever my old oxycon was turned on.
