Hi Guys!
Who can tell me what inside-out beads are? Pictures? A general idea of how to make them or directions to a tut? Boro only?
Thanks so much, in advance.
Warmly, Marie C

They are normally done in boro. I've never seen a soft glass one, but it is possible I guess.
You start with clear tubing and flare it out into a cone shape. Then you use fuming, stringer or dots to decorate the inside wall. You close it down, melt it all in and form your bead. The decorations on the inside of the glass and that's how it gets it's name. ;)

Hey, Brent, what do you use to flare the tube? Do you have to get an expensive tool or is there a trick you can help us with. :)

Shannon Hill has a great video on inside-out beads -- he makes it look possible, even easy. Try as I might, I cannot do it -- of course, I want to be able to do it well without ppp!!! And we all know we need to ppp!!! A simple graphite flaring tool is all you need...and plenty of patience...
Best,
Lea

Thanks everybody!
Lea, how can we access Shannon Hill's video?
Warmly, Marie C
It's not one you can 'access', it's a DVD you can buy.
"Making Inside-Out Beads with Shannon Hill" $40
It's not on my web site (yet), but I have it in stock.

He's got them for sale on his website! Nicest guy. If I can find his website, I'll post it later.
Good luck,

I have bought Shannon Hills' video - I have not tried to do it yet, but am planning to do so soon. I always have to view the video/dvd several times before I start to make the bead.

You can flare a tube two ways... a reamer is the most common. You can also heat it up and spin it fast. The second way takes a little more practice. ;)

Ooh, the dreaded fast spin! LOL!! Thanks Brent. And thanks Marie for asking the question.
Have a great week ahead everyone.

If you use a blow pipe instead of pulling a point, you can chuck that sucker up in a cordless drill. ;)
