While trying to create a specific swirl pattern in a cylinder shaped bead I accidently created an effect I cannot duplicate. I used a morreti orange for my base bead, laying in moretti transparent black stringer I pulled for the swirl pattern. I am burning propane gas only.

Where the black is swirled in thin lines it appears to be silver. Where the black is in thicker lines, the area touching the orange appears silver but in the center of the thick lines it is still black. The orange touching the black is slightly off color from the main orange bead body.

I do not have proper photo equipment and it does not come out very well in the photo but here is a very enlarged photo of the "accident". It appears there was some type of reaction but I do not know exactly what and I have tried several times and cannot duplicate it. I like the look and I am wondering if someone can help me figure out how to duplicate this accident.

Thank you in advance for any help anyone can give me.

Are you sure you didn't use Intense Black stringer instead of regular black?

Also, someone else posted that they were having trouble with Moretti Black turning silver. Someone suggested they were working to hot and/or too close to the torch head. So you might want to try that!

Overheating will scorch your black, which is what that silvery look is. So "Cook those babies!" LOL

Or maybe - if you still want the silver look - use Dark Silver Plum instead of transp. black - alot of people using Dk Silver Plum get just silver - not silver plum -
I guess if you cant get it to do the silver thing by cooking like pierces-designs told you - you can always try to remove the silver you did get by the good old coke-soak method...
Have fun!
