Clearly, I am busy at work today... :-$

In my order to Heritage Glass, I ordered us a rod of Double Helix - Psyche
I understand this is a reducing color/rod. Since we are using a Fireworks torch, are we going to be able to create the reduction effect? We can turn the ring on the torch head (not with our fingers of course) and reduce the air the is mixing with the MAPP... and the flame turns greenish (instead of blue). Will this work?

I just though it would be fun to play with.

David, it will work to an extent. I use to use a HotHead and just covered the induction ports with foil and it worked like a charm. Some Double Helix colors are easier to reduce than others. I haven't tried Psyche yet, just ordered a few rods myself.

Let us know how it goes.

David, this is expensive glass, so if you are new to this I would suggest pulling it into stringer and using it for dots or lines on your beads. It will last much longer this way. If you want to make a whole bead with it, try using it over a clear core which again will use less of this. Psyche is easy to strike on a mixed gass torch, good luck on your Fireworks!

Oh I LOVE my psyche!!! probably my fav!!

with a single fuel torch you should be able to get a good reduction easily by covering the air holes. remember to turn down the gas, when you cut out the air the flame will get bigger. you just need to wave a cool-ish bead in the reduction a second or two.
