We've just moved into studio space in a converted cotton mill here in Todmorden! The space is about 10x24' and is all ours! There will be room for two and possibly three torches eventually and a corner for jewellery work.
Here's the first pics of the empty studio:

and looking towards the other end:

We have most of the glass and benches moved in and some shelving set up but it's still a work in progress. Hopefully I'll have more photos tomorrow.

Thanks, Lesley!
Come on up any time, we're almost done. That is, if you're flu-proof! Or maybe wait for a week..... we'll have to arrange a torching session for everyone.

Yea!! I'm so excited for you....looks like a great work space!!

Thanks, Teri!
Here's the newest update, our new studio has a torch assistant. Here he is, tooled up for the first day at the torch.

He's made two beads now, which is double the number I've made, but his working conditions aren't ideal as his boss insists on supervising a bit too closely....

Mike was testing the torch out to see if the oxycon was working and the studio assistant aka the First Mate insisted on holding the mandrel for quality control purposes.
Here's a pic of the studio partway through getting things put together. Next is the ventilation over the table but at the moment we're just getting things placed where they will end up permanently. My workspace is in the far right corner now.

LOL, No! He's my baby! I won't tell Mike you said that. He gets touchy when people ask if Brendan's our grandson.

Ooooh, its a shame I don't live up that way anymore! I used to live in Keighley but now I'm in North Wales - I must make a trip up sometime.
The place looks fab!

Just drop us a line and come by. Wales isn't that far, by American standards. :-D
Mike is always laughing at me when I suggest 'just running up to York' which is only an hour or so away, to him it requires a passport and a day's preparation, but then he IS from Lancashire.

We're not going to have the studio open as a shop, since it's in a mill with other artists and their studios. People can come over by appointment but we will sell online or at bead fairs only.
You're welcome to drop by though.

Merry Christmas to you too, Terri and a happy New Year!
We still have the Shedhenge, it's covered in frost and snow right now but it's back to its original planned use for storage. I'll try to get pics of it but brrrrr... Yorkshire winter cold outside, me comfy and warm indoors.

We've done some more on the studio, including a small space for the First Mate and his own art supplies:

Plus, I've managed to add a bit to my section where the photography and bead stringing/jewellery part happens:
http://www.tillermanbeads.co.uk/studio5.jpg
We've put a bit of a wall between Mike's torch and the stairway to keep down drafts and the like too:
http://www.tillermanbeads.co.uk/studio1.jpg
Next thing is to get the vent hood up over the torch, but it's been too cold to get anything done with the window.
We had the Gas Board guy around today, there's a gas leak somewhere outside the mill and he went around the whole studio with his gas sniffer. Not even the tiniest peep, which made him, us and our landlord very happy. We all knew it wasn't us that was causing the gas smell, we just took advantage of him being there to give it a once-over with the expected results.
Mike's torching station:

And, when I can find time, this is MY torching station, it's not set up fully yet, hoses need to be tidied away and the area made suitably 'artistic' and messy. Nice blue tile backboard is leftover tiles from our shower in the boat.

We've done more with the place but no new photos until I get a chance. Next thing, we're talking about the floor and how to make it look less rough and messy.

Su! It look terrific, congratulations on your new space!!!!

Thanks, Gina. It's slowly coming together. We have to get busy and make things move along but it does take time when the holidays get in the way.
