This is THE prettiest pink I've ever seen in my life! It also makes me cry every time I think about it.

I. Just. Can't. Work. It. It boils. Even before I get it hot enough to think about gathering, it boils.

I've turned the flame down. I've tried to work it so far out in the flame that I sit there for 10 minutes looking at it while it looks back. I bring it in ever so slowly until it starts softening around the edges. You know, the stage where you know shocky glass isn't going to become a projectile. Then it starts to boil and get a white haze. It's not even freakin melted and it's boiling?

I keep hoping there's something stupid I'm doing all wrong and it'll all be okay in the and I'll have pretty pink transluscent beads.

Oddly enough my Blush is doing the same thing. The only pink that's being good to me at the moment is Gelly's Sty. At least I hope she hasn't turned on me too.

I wonder if it is the batch you have. I get my rose quartz really hot on purpose. I mean I have got it white hot before just to see how it reacts. I really like to make spacers out of this glass, with short working time it seems to stay pretty translucent for me. Longer working time and cooling and reheating seems to make it go opal. I agree with you about the color being beautiful, it seems to glow. What torch are you using?

I'll bet it is the batch. When I first got some I had the same problem. I bought more a year or so later and haven't had any trouble.

I have not had this happen. It's a stiff glass, but I haven't had it boil.

I'm hoping it's a bad batch and I'm not completely inept. I'm on a Carlisle Mini CC and an oxycon. These are the only two colors I'm having any problems with. Crazy. I guess I could send a rod of each to someone more experienced and see if they have the same problem? Then I would know whether or not it's just me, my torch, or the glass.

I had some that turned a nice translucent pink - then I ordered some more and haven't had any luck. I think my first batch was before CIM split the 2 colors to have different names. I am thinking it's the batch now that you mention it.
