If you had the choice between a bead liner or an electroforming tool, which would you choose??
Electroforming! OK so my opinion is biased... I rarely make wearable stuff. ;)

I would choose the electroforming kit. You can line beads without a bead liner but you can't electroform without specialized equipment.

I'd pick the bead liner. I'm not a huge electroforming fan but I love silver lined beads.

I had an electroforming kit and sold it. It's hard to get the metal to stick to the glass. And... it is just a certain look. However, I line beads all the time. by hand. So it would be something I would use a lot.

I choose a bead liner last year. But I've never used it. But i did order some silver tubing so I will be using it soon. Now I'm gonna get an e-forming kit.
I ordered the electroforming kit. Now instead of silver lining my beads, I'm copper lining them by electroforming! :D

And, then you can electroform silver over the copper!

I can line a bead. Will be doing that this week. Then if I had the electro former I could use that on some of the other glass that I make. Have to start to save my pennies for this. Yes.

I voted the liner - you can make up your own e forming kit (yes it takes a bit of researching but it's fun to do) ... whereas the liner is harder to do yourself unless you're a machinist type!

I have them both. Really like them both, but the bead liner is my fave.

Of course, I'm a little biased because I sell electroforming kits but I guess it really, really depends on what you plan to do with each of them. If you are going to make a ton of Troll/Pandora/Biagi big hole beads and line them to sell for the bracelets (ala production style or art jewelry or otherwise), the the liner tool is best for you. If you'd like to "sleeve" your big hole beads with copper electroforming (as I often do) or you want to add interest to your beads (especially focals), then an electroforming kit can open up a world of possibilities.
Good luck to you in your decicision.

My thoughts exactly.

I haven't had very much success doing an electroformed bead lining. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but outer edge of the lining usually pulls away from the bead while it's electroforming.
I'd go for the liner. I think the market is pretty small for electroformed beads, but the lined beads seem to have broader appeal.
The bead liners require that the beads be quite perfect or you run the risk of breaking them. The e-forming is just the opposite, it allows you to hide imperfection well.
I got both! lol!

I have both.
I LOVE my Jim Moore bead riviter
and I like Electroforming too. It's easier to rivit and more time consuming to get my electroforming stuff out.
They are two such distinct "looks" that it really depends on what you are after.
I have booth, And I agree with Kristi, They are both so pretty, I see both.
I've got both....but if I could only have one, I'd say the electroforming kit. The possibilities are endless!!

If you buy the bead corer from Dave at Art in the Round maybe you can have both as its a much cheaper option.

Already have a Jim Moore liner so I say Electro kit :)

I chose the Electroforming kit. I've been dreaming of one for quite a while now. I think I have to buy another oxy con first, but the E-kit is second on my list. I have so many different ideas I want to try with electroforming. I can hardly wait.

I chose the electroformer for when I am rich and can spend money on it. In metalsmithing there is so much you can do with an electricformer especially since you can gold plate items and not have to spend nearly as much on gold... that and I love seeing what some of you amazing people are making.

I want both so I am collecting the items for the electroforming kit on my own so it is cheaper. I plan to buy the Jim Moore press at tax refund time.

I enjoy the look of both types of beads, but personally I'd go with a liner. Knowing me, if I bought the e-forming kit, I'd use it once and there it would sit...
