hi everyone! :-)

i have a question about bottle stoppers- i love making vessels and bottles, but i make them on rather thin mandrels (2mm, 3mm, and i have only 1 of about 4 or 5 mm), so rather than using corks (only good for vessels made on the large mandrel i guess), i want to make them out of glass.

my question is- how are they made? what should i do to them to ensure the bottle is closed, and that the stopper doesn't just lay there?

thank you so so much!!!!

I don't think there would really be any way to ensure a good glass on glass seal unless you use ground glass seals, which are boro and for scientific work. Basically all you need is a ball larger than the diameter of the hole in the vase neck. Then attach a tapered stringer (or rod depending on size of hole) smaller than diameter of hole to add weight to keep the ball in place.
