Hi there
Could anyone tell me/show me the cool things that Effetre Periwinkle can do please. I just discovered that it plays beautifully with Hades... similar effect to using Hades with Opal Yellow. I'm sure it does other things as well.. any help gratefully received,. Thanks

I haven't played with Effetre periwinkle in ages but I may just pull it out to see. Hope you get some examples :)

These are a perwinkle base with all kinds of colors. New Violet, Rubino, copper green, opal yellow and.....stuff. Man I should write things down once in a blue. lol

One suggestion I can think of that was not in the "older" thread is periwinkle and coral, fumed with gold lightly. Rocking combo.

If you mix it half and half with Effetre Black, you'll get a much more opaque black that's smooth and dreamy to use.
If you reduce it over and over again in a very strong reduction flame, you can get it to start to turn purple.
I'll try to get some pix tomorrow of some stuff I have done with it.

Thanks Kay... that's just the sort of thing I wanted to know. I would love to see the pics please. Reduction is no problem here.. hothead :)

One thing that I tried but didn't like was periwinkle and silver glass. The silver glass fumes the periwinkle where it touches, and the periwinkle turns a strange yellow-green that I didn't find appealing. Bummer, because the two colors by themselves would have been awesome!

man I love perwinkle...it plays so nice with all kinds of glass. It also reacts with a lot of different glass too. It looks cool with most blues, purples, cranberry frits, pet green, a bunch of the kugler greens, blues etc...if you use stringer it spreads...It is one of my favs! Just play! I usually just melt a paddle and start playing to find combos./...give it a shot!

Periwinkle has got to be my favorite color of glass. It's not too soupy, not too stiff and it just goes with everything!

These were all made with the same rod of periwinkle. The purple you see on beads B,C,D, & F is all from reducing the glass. B & F were both made the same way, except F is larger and was flattened. All they are is pale aqua dots on periwinkle and then reduced. Simple spacer beads (C) don't reduce much, and sometimes the look is more streaky than not.
There's a couple other things I've done with Periwinkle I want to show you, but I'll have to do those again for you because I've given those beads away and can't find them.
Hugs,
-Kay

Thank you so much Kay... those pics are really interesting...I'll try reducing it more and more and see if I can reproduce the same colours..
When I bead, periwinkle is one of my favs as I am a purple lover anyway. One I like to do is a base of periwinkle and srtringers or dots of transparent medium purple (or light or dark). Also, I like to use all the different frits with it.
As someone else said, just play around and get a feel for it.......

I love periwinkle--I haven't tried to get any special effects out of it yet. I love how it feels in the flame and I love that it doesn't burn and do other nasty things.

All of the expensive hand pulled colors look great with periwinkle. I love copper green, opal yellow, rubino, cobalt, edp, mosaic green.

A bit off topic, but Effemess, what kind of effect do you get with Hades and Opal Yellow?

A very thin stringer of hades on peri gives you the same spidery effect that hades does on ivory.....
