View Full Interactive Version Of This Page : Yellow?
I got a Christmas order for a bracelet and earrings from a guy my husband works with. He says her favorite color is canary yellow. I don't think I've ever made a yellow bead and I'm kind of stumped. I made some encased florals with Effetre trans yellow and they turned out nice but I think he wants something more abstract than flowers. So does anyone have any advice for yellow beads? Maybe a frit color that will look nice on bright yellow or...I don't know I can't think of anything because I just don't like yellow that much!

How about yellow with California Poppies frit and thin black stringer lines, or bumblebee yellow frit on clear
Vetrofond transparent yellow is a nice bright yellow. It's yellow like the little wavy smilie face

Ooh good idea. I love opal yellow. I wonder if it will be the right shade for her.
how about light opal yellow base with white flowers and special yellow centers? I'm sure that would appeal to anyone who likes yellow.

Thanks Chris! I'm going to go ahead and order some because I love opal yellow and NEED this color anyway. I think he's actually going to go for the encased yellow floral on a blue or ink blue base. He said he didn't want flowers but I think hubby was talking up the encased ones  .

I bought an entire pound, and I make itty bitty beads, so it'll last a while! I was goofing around with it, and with five beads on one mandrel, all loght opal yellow, striped with EDP, and dotted with copper green, I realized if I added a bead with eyes, I'd have a caterpillar...so...guess what many people on my list are getting for Christmas...bookworm bookmarks! and a book...

You could do some acid yellow or butter yellow beads with some enamel (white? peach? soft green? not sure what other color she might like) and then thin stringer trails. Etch it for a soft feel. My favorite "yellowish" combination is transparent green, with yellow enamel and yellow dots and/or yellow stringer trails--etched.

I hadn't thought of enamels! I have a sample pack but I've barely touched it since I always seem to burn it out. I'll have to try that today. Thanks Misty!

Sure! Just remember with enamels less time in the flame is better. Rotate at a faster pace, have the shape of the bead down before you apply the enamels, and you'll be less likely to burn the enamel out. =)

Just wanted to add my Favorite yellow was an old lot of Butter Yellow. I order it with every order hoping to get the same lot I had. It was a true school Bus yellow but turned an yellow/orange shade when you work it just right in the flame. The rods were rough feeling. I have a couple bundels I have been hording of it as I know it isn't the same color they have had out for years.
It would be a wonderful color for you to work with, it you would like a few rods just PM me I would be glad to share for your order.
