I just got a new hot head. I'm having issues with it not getting the glass hot enough. I'm totally new and this is the first hot head I've worked on. Using propane and working about a inch into the flame I even tried a inch from the torch. Oh hell I tried everywhere in the flame lol . ](*,)](*,) I can get my mandril to glow red but I can't even get the glass hot enough to pic up some frit. UGGGG please help I'm shure it's operator error ;)
hmmm, i work on a HH and never had that problem - i'm way more likely to burn glass, lol
let's go by process of elimination:
-first, is this an authentic HH or a similar torch?
-what size propane tank are you using?
-is it full? is the torch screwed on properly?
-does this happen all the time or just when the tanks freezes up?
-have you tried turning up the flame?
-how much time does it take for the glass to heat and melt? it usually has to be glowing before you can pick up any frit so perhaps your bead is still too cool?
that's all i can think of for now. if none of the above solves your problem maybe post a pic of your setup?
hope this helps!

Oh, scary! My hot head has never glowed red. Maybe there is something not right with your torch. Maybe ask Dale M. He's like the guru of torch questions.

It could be she's using a Fireworks torch head. When I had one it did glow red. And it did catch on fire. Be careful.
