I just bought it. I found it, but it take me a little looking around. I can't wait to play with rubino oro. I feel like I waste it because I have some trouble with it still.
Rubino oro is the same as Moretti 591456 or Vetrofond 791456...Pink Gold Rubino.
It's been around forever. You have to work it high in the flame to get the beautiful fuschia color. Work it too hot or two low and you'll get metallic yuckys.
I don't understand the post though...this glass has been around forever.....
oops....sorry didn't notice it was about a book...my goof. Slap me now!

I always want to know "why" and not just the "how". This ebook explains it all. The details, illustrations and photos are superb and so well described. I'd love to have a professional hard bound copy of this for my library. It's INCrediBLE. If you ever have the chance to take one or all of Sarah's classes, go for it. It's worth every penny.

I'm just now in the process of printing mine out, and I'm sorta' halted at page 14 (not really, I can continue printing other pages, but...)
did anyone else have a problem with page 14 not printing the pictures, or did my computer somehow corrupt the file?

I had no trouble with printing page 14. I did get a message that my adobe thingy was old and I upgraded it before I printed the tut. Maybe that's what made the difference. It took FOREVER to print! I should've popped it in my thumb drive and run to the Office Max but I didn't. I'm actually thinking of seeing what they'd charge to put it in a spiral book for me. I might do that with a lot of them.
Sarah, the only thing I do have to say is the header on each page takes up a LOT of ink to print. Even if it were in a white background instead of light grey it would be OK.

I didn't realize until I got this tutorial how few light opaques I had. Had to order some of the opal yellow and a few others while I was at it. This just gets better and better.
My question is this....is there a specific reason for using oy other than the shade of fuschia you get? Ya know, I think I just answered my own question. I'm going to try it with white today but I will bet its a whole other color.
For now, here is what I played with. I just love the reactions. Finally a reason to practice my dots.....LOL

Just ordered my copy!! Looks pretty! I tried to send it to kinkos' to print, but the PDF file says the page size is 7.99 x 11.32 inches. The 11+ number means the page size is too big for standard size printing.
How do you change a file's page size in the "File/Properties" area???

Hi, When I click on print preview, there is a window at the top that switchs automatically from 100% to shrink to fit. There are precentages all in between to choose from, but I don't have to choose, it does it for me.
Seems like they should be able to do that on their end?
Normally I don't even go to print preview. I just click on print and again there is a check box that asks if I want it to fit the page (when needed).
Also clicking on print, then the preference tab, you can change the page size. Mine is already set to letter size, 8 1/2" by 11", so it automatically fits the page.

Well, it helps if I am printing it myself, but the online places have software that checks the properties AND your paper selection. It returns an error because the size paper I choose is SMALLER than the properties set on this document. (sigh) The settings on the document are not right.
I can't print this out at home, and now I can't print it at a professional place either. I guess I'll have to take it there on a disk vs. sending it directly. That should work ok.
I was hoping to send it to lulu, but I can't drive there. :-)

Sarah, I bet A4 is standard page size for you. In the US, our printers and copiers use Letter size, which is 8.5" x 11".
If you click on File > Print, then change Page Scaling to Shrink to Printable Area, then the file should print. I print A4 size stuff all the time.

Ohhhh, okay, I didn't know that. Yes, we use A4 here. I guess it never occurred to me that not everyone does.
I don't really know about Kinko's, Staples etc. - we don't have those here either - but as far as I know, PDFs usually shrink to fit the page (by default) when you print them out. I didn't know about any size limitations on their website - I'll have to look into that.

Yes.....when you upload the document to a place that will print it for you, they automatically check the size of the document in the properties. If you also select to print it on 8.5 x11, the computer edits say "It's too big" for the size paper you chose.
So you can't just upload it to kinko's or lulu.com and order a print out. I will just put it on disk, take it kinko's and instruct them to do what Deb did (let it fit to the page). It'll be ok.
I thought the presentation was very well done, and very pretty photo's. ~NancyB
I bought 4 tutorials. I uploaded them all to kinkos and then combined them. Added a coil binder and vinyl coverings and named it "lampwork tuturials"

I bought #791456. Vetrofond Pink Gold Special It is really pale compared to the pics on the website where I got it.Is it possibly unstruck?
dsjohnson
2008-08-11, 7:27pm
I imagine that just like Effetre Rubino Oro 456, the Vetrofond rods can come in a variety of colors from just a blush to more color, but they are usually unstruck. The thing that I learned in Robin Foster's color class is that the Vetrofond Rubino is a lot purpler than the Effetre, I prefer the Effetre Rubino myself, the fuschia girl that I am, but the Vetrofond does have its uses, too.

If you're having trouble printing on Letter size paper, check your print options. For Page Scaling select Fit to printable area, like this:

The printed copy may not look quite as good as it would on A4, but it'll be usable.
Ignore the preview; that's something I just happen to have open in Acrobat for work.

I guess I just email Sarah about this. :(
How about using lulu.com
That's what I did. Actually for the first book I did it at Kinko's. It cost way more but was hassle free. Lulu was 1/3 the price and shipped it pretty quick too.
Try it and if you have problems, Just PM Me.

Hi Reenie, I live in Canada, I'm worry about shipping fee for the book. Staples gave me a waiver doc, I will send it to her and get her to sign it.
