Make up air question

My over head vent is done. Now my last issue is. I need to finish the replacement air. The vent goes out the top of the garage wall. We are going to open the garage door about 10 inches and put a block that would have a hole in it to close the garage door on top of. The vent will come up to the table.
First question is can it be at the side of the table or does it have to be under the table? This is so that I just get a small amount of air so it will not get to cold.

Second if the air is coming from the side will it make it blow the flame if the fan is sucking the air up the vent.

Can this vent be the flexable dryer type ducting or does it have to be smooth also?

If the vent goes out the top of the wall and the return is on the side of me at the garage door and at the bottom is this enough space between them? It is around the corner from each other and top to floor.

Thanks for your help I am finally almost there.

If you duct air in from side it will probably move flame around....IT should actually be in front of you and torch near back of bench...

Best to use 8 in or 10 in steel (smooth wall) duct... To much flow loss (static pressure) in flex duct...

Your fresh air intake (makeup air) should be at least 10 feet away from your exhaust duct...
