Golden color glass rods?
Hey out there in lampwork world! I've been looking at the works of Gustav Klimt and am inspired to do a series of work based on it. WOW! BUT........ I need a good color for the gold in his work. Other than using metal beads, does anyone have any suggestions on a glass rod that has a golden appearance other than goldstone? Any suggestions are appreciated-JT

Check/Ornela glass makes some shampoo glass that's a beautiful golden color. Actually there's one that's more yellow & another that's more golden. Both colors work well together & look like they would be a close match to the Gustav Klimt works. The problem is finding the glass because nobody seems to carry it anymore.

I love Klimt too. I made a series of felt balls based on his work. Just gorgeous. I'm sorry I can't help.
There was a thread on a transparent gold colour rod a little while ago. I'm sure you're more interested in an actual gleaming gold as in Laurie's aurae example but see if you can't find that thread. It might just be lovely etched. |
Doesn't DH Helios turn gold too?

Here's the color chart of the shampoo glass. The 1400 was the one I was thinking of.

Effetre 14K, a transparent that falls between 008 ans 012 on the color chart.

Gold aveturine if you want metallic sparkle - though it is a reddish copper-gold as it is made from copper. You can get ready made rods or pull our own from goldstone.

Thank you ALL so much for the great ideas! I'd forgotten about that effetre- have not tried it yet- and aurea is a great option too. I like that czech shampoo color but understand that it is hard to find. Looks like I need to make a glaSS order! Thanks again for your help! Have a great weekend everyone! JT
