Where to buy cheap boro glass?
 

I'm looking for a good site that sells cheap boro tubes, something to practice with. And also the stubby ones with the skinny blow tube attached that makes it easier to make ornaments and pipes, I really have no idea what they're called. So far all the glass I'm seeing is pretty pricey, a recommended source would be much appreciated.

the "stubby ones with blow tube attached" are called points. you can't buy premade points in boro i dont think.
you can get them in 96coe, called glasskolben or some such.
buy some tubing and learn to pull points, it's an essential skill. check out mountain glass's clear boro samplers, they contain both tubing and rod...and your gonna need rod for puntys, raking, tearing etc.

Thanks that exactly what Im looking to buy, I'm new to this so I still need to learn what glass I'm looking for. What size should I be looking for because I bought some but I'm thinking it's pretty small for making pipes, at least I got tons of puntys for my next order.

for the best of both worlds (imo) i'd start with 25mm x 4mm....aka one inch heavy wall.

Not to be a grump, and I know it's not the popular opinion, but please take the time to learn the basics before you jump right into making pipes.

You can learn, "heat, spin, blow, push a bowl", but if your glass cracks, will you know why? Will you know how to correct errors or will you be back on here asking?

Fundamental lessons for basic skills are time well spent.

You posted the other day that you have a 5 PM oxygen concentrator. If that is your only oxygen source, that may present a challenge for working anything larger than small boro beads or little boro figures.

Just to be clear, you can not use 90 coe glass for pipes and boro points are available online. Very expensive, learn how to do them your self.

you sure can make pipes out of soft glass. i've seen it done a few times. not for beginners, but it can be done.

So I decided to go with 12mm x 2mm tubing(ones I've been practicing with). They're small but perfect for my torch, and actually my 5LPM oxygen concentrator handles them just fine, I think I could even go larger my only complaint is waiting for color to melt in. So far I've made a good amount of practice pipes and ornaments for my tree, they're coming along nicely!
