GTT Yellow Jacket single jet hand torch

The kids and I visited the GTT shop, yesterday, and I took video of Willy and Wally showing me a Yellow Jacket hand torch and putting it through its paces.

This torch has one jet and it is a triple mix surface mix, as opposed to premix like you would find with other tiny torches. The triple mix feature allows the Yellow Jacket to get a wide range of flame sizes/shapes and flame chemistry all without changing any tips. The flame is clean and very stable. It can be used on soft glass, boro, or quartz, as well as exotic glasses and metals.

BTW, the lines are small lines and are not the same size as regular lines for bench burners. The lines shown are coiled. Straight lines are also available.

They also make a pen handle version. The pen version is sleeker. One version will have tiny lines that come out the back and go to a separate box with the valves, for people who need something super small to fit into tight places. This torch is not for glass only. It can be used with metal.

The regular price of the Yellow Jacket is $450. Right now, they are still at the intro price of $395.

I got mine earlier this summer - it's great for detail work. I love it!

I was looking at this torch earlier this morning for working with metal. I thought it might be overkill, but maybe I'm wrong? I bet I would like this a whole lot better than the one that needs to have the tip changed to get different sized flames. I do have a birthday coming up and might be able to convince somebody to buy it for me.

It works really well for metal and it runs on propane. The triple mix makes it really hot, so it doesn't need acetylene. A juried jeweler tried one out and told them the heat with this torch was hot as his Hoke torch on hydrogen.

The guys at the GTT shop use it for silver soldering all the time. :) And what's really neat is that it doesn't blow out when you move it around.

Thanks Kimberly! Is it available now? Does it require flashback arrestors? I assume I can just switch it out with my mini CC which is running on a 10 lpm concentrator and propane?

I think there is a waiting list for the Yellow Jacket, but I do not know how long it is. You can contact GTT by email or phone:

I'm pretty sure you can use the same oxygen and fuel set-up. Willy is bringing me one home, tonight, so I can hook it up to my Regalia (10 LPM). I'll let you know what I find out.

Thanks Kimberly! I hope the waiting list is not too long.

Kimberly, did you get a chance to try it out yet? I sent an email Friday to ask about ordering one.

Willy brought one home and I hope to run it this weekend. :)

I ran my Yellow Jacket on an old 5lpm concentrator over the weekend and it did very well. I'm sure that it'll run better on the Regalia, but it was workable on the old Invacare.

Thanks Robert! There aren't any available right now, but I've got one on order. The waiting will be hard.

I just ran the one I had over here on 2 LPM and 10 LPM. It did fine even on the 2 LPM.

Thanks Kimberly!

It is, as all GGTs are, a superb torch. I've got 4 GTTs in my studio and love them all.
