Too hot for Concentrator?
 

I have an Invacare 5. It has always served me well. I was making beads yesterday and the concentrator, after about 3 hours started beeping and then would stop producing. Each time I turned it off and back on it would work for a few mins and then do the same. It was a very hot day. About 90F. The concentrator is in a clean spot. I just moved to this house in August and I torch in the garage. The concentrator felt hot to the touch. Anyone have an idea?

i've used mine up to 95f and humid, no issues.

I read here on LE about a week ago (of course, I can't remembering what thread) that it wasn't good to use a concentrator outside in the heat. That they needed to be indoors in the air conditioning. That was the first time I had heard that .... Could it be true?

bullshite. they're designed to be used by 90 year old Floridians with copd during the high heat of summer.
operating specs on most are 50f- 95f up to 99% humidity.

Look at the manual, there may be buildup in the vent or filter.
Constricted air flow causes problems for all sorts of things.

So I loosed the pipe that went from the torch to see if there was an obstruction, reattached it and ran it just fine the rest of the day.
The day I had problems I was using silver glass so was probably playing with my oxygen dial. Anyway no repeat of the problem! Thank you.

Wow! What had gotten into the pipe? i have been having trouble, too.

As far as I could tell Patty nothing? So it ran just fine for the last few weeks and now its doing it again. I took the pipe off. Its still doing it. Im petrified of opening it up. I think I'll sage it, light some incense and invoke the Invacare Gods.

I so hear ya! I disconnected mine and put a tank on that torch.

I have heard that you can get a long hose & run it from the concentrator that is inside, through a cracked window or door to the torch outside too.

i have two that started doing the same thing at the same time. I got all new hoses, fresh propane and found a new Carlisle Mini CC I had stashed away (who me hoard glassy tools??) Now I will re-assemble and see if they still do it.

I'm using a Devilbiss oxygenator... It's decided to quit on me. .. not sure what to do to get it going again any ideas?

now i thought of doing just that...but i've got a good 30 or 40 feet between the heated house and unheated garage...and i think not being able to see the lpm gauge would drive me nuts (i've got a bit of ocd).

does anyone know how long of a hose is too long? i'd imagine you'd lose some psi if it was longer then 25' or so...but that is based on nothing solid, just a hunch.

Generally, you want the hose to be 12' or shorter. The longer the hose, the more the pressure drops.

So did we decide that it cant run in the heat. Im still scared to open it. Losthelm, can you write me a tutorial?

Have you tried running it in the house to see if it does the same thing?

FOR THE INVACARE 5 If you are so inclined you can take the cover off (just 8 screws along the bottom 4 sides) visible on the back side of the circuit board is 3 lights red yellow green watch these lights as the machine shuts down, they will blink in a code that explaines the problem and is printed right beside the lights. Or send it to me and i,ll fix it for you call me 765-349-4151

i've ran my machines down to 40f (i was pushing it that day) and up to 95f and 98% humid, and they just take it and keep going.
