April Boro Show It! ... Don't Bogart That Glass ...

Well, it's not technically April on your side of the pond, as yet, but it is here (does that make us Aussies lucky to get here before or does it just suck coz we're that little bit older, sooner?)... also these weren't technically made in April, but they're the first thing out of the kiln this month.
Most of these are collabs with my girlfriend, she's been crazy about making urchins since last September, she's been learning a lot and she's improving in leaps and bounds, working together can be a lot of fun. I, for some reason, got back to making turtles again. Here goes ... |
One thing day, time, space continuam doesn't do is affect the beauty of your glass! No matter the day, no matter the time.... your glass is drop dead gorgeous.
Seriously beautiful work you have going on there and I'm glad you shared. Sue |
Awesome. Really great detail on the turtles and the urchins. Very pretty.

Stephan - Those pendants rock! Really nice work.

WOW - those are gorgeous turle and urchin collaborations, Wicked! And your work is always impressive, Hagstrom. :)
I've been practicing my boro and trying to figure out this whole "striking" concept. These aren't the best examples of my colour progress but I wanted to share this design since I really love it! It's based on a variety of inspiration from making "glasswing" flutter beads in soft glass, then making a similar toggle in boro for a lady who decorates purses. I then forgot about it for about a year until I saw a singer with a crescent of contrasting undershirt showing at her neckline and thought how awesome that would look as a necklace. It reminded me of some kind of historical neckwear but I couldn't remember what until I did an internet search. Then I found it: a gorget, a piece of medieval plate armour for the neck that gradually became more of a decorative rank marking and eventually a trade item in the New World. I thought that glass would be an interesting medium for "armour", and these are some of the results thus far! Awesome show guys. Killing it with the sea life, nice work.
The gorgets are really cool Heather, really unique pieces. I've got a couple more blown boro beads...spent a couple days fussing with dichro last week and this first one is some wicked wierd mad scientist stuff that tormented me for days until finally I began to get it right. Yes they are bubbles, and yes I put them there on purpose. :p http://www.evolvingcreations.com/images/boroGA7.jpg http://www.evolvingcreations.com/ima...aquadichro.jpg http://www.evolvingcreations.com/ima...hrobicone1.jpg |

here are a few diddy's from me. I do have to say that this site has opened me up to a whole new perspective in glass. I would be just doing what I know (and that is not alot about glass) making keychains and pushing mushroom pendants. I am truley thankful for this site and the many inspiring artist who share there artwork and thier many tips and techniques.
Thank you |
I love the horsies that I keep seeing in these galleries. Now Malem is making 'em too! Nice. I wish I could make such cool sculptural stuff!
