A Method for uploading photos using Attatchments

Several people have asked how to deal with pictures being too big to upload to LE without having find a photo editor and then learn how to use that to get the pictures under the limits of the forum software.

This technique gets around that issue but I have to warn that it may reduce the clarity of the uploaded image a little bit.

Last time I wrote this all out I saved it to the drafts folder in my email by highlighting the whole post, right clicking on it and selected copy.

Then I opened a new email and pasted it into the body of the of the message, added a subject line and saved it to my drafts folder by not putting any addressee in the 'to' box.

Click the "Go Advanced" and then type in some words describing you picture.

Then click the paper clip symbol above the -typed entry box- next to the white smiley face.

A " Manage Attachments" box will come up.

Click the first "browse" button and when the computer puts up a file listing direct that listing to folder where you are keeping the picture you are trying to send and then click the picture or the name of the picture you want to send.

That will take you back to the "Manage Attachments" box where you will see a written word -path- showing the directions to the file you are trying to send.

Then you need to click the upper "upload image" button.

This next part is confusing but don't let it throw you off.

The last click you made will dump you back to the -typed entry box- but it won't show anything at all besides the words you had already entered.

Now scroll down to the Preview Post button and click that.
Your picture should now be visible on the top of the page.

Once you click "post" it should show up in the thread.

Ii hope this helps someone and makes things just a little easier.

Thanks for the information, I think. lol. I will try it this afternoon. I just have a heck of a time posting and did something a little less complicated with my email and photo posted but was real fuzzy. It had 6-7 beads in one pic so maybe I should only do 1 bead at a time.
Thanks again.

At Phil’s suggestion...

I offer up this alternate set of directions that I copied from an email I sent someone several months ago.

Easy Photo Upload Instructions for LE
Click the Go Advanced button under the Reply message window.

Two windows will open.
(The top window allows you to preview your message. The bottom window is your working window.)

You will note that the working window has a tool bar at the top.
To add a photo to your message, find the paperclip symbol in the top row.

Click on the paperclip and a new window will open.
This is where you will select your photos.

#1 Click Choose Image button
Find your photo file and select it.
#2 Click Upload Image

Then, scroll to the bottom to the Close Window button

You will be returned to the working window.
If you click the Preview Post button, you should see your photo inserted in the upper preview window.
That’s it!
To add additional photos, just repeat the process.

Two important points....
You can only upload five photos per post.
You have to include a few introductory words in the post —you can’t only post photos.

My problem is photo size is too big and I have to reduce size. I don’t have photo shop or similar tool to downsize photo.
Thanks for comments

Judy, that's the beauty of this technique.

The LE software reduces the size to something approaching reasonable without you having to jump through a bunch of hoops with some third party photo software.

I know this is a really old thread but if somebody stumbles across it, I thought I would mention TapTalk. Posting pics using the iPad & TapTalk app is a breeze.
