Colour, colour, colour...

I'm spelling it my way=;

So, after wandering through Kandices blog for the umpteenth time trying to absorb some of her colour genius, I've finally worked out it's something you're born with or not, I'm the latter

So, what do you guys use for inspiration?

Oh, and Kandices blog in case you've been living under a rock...

In addition to Kandice's blog (which is awesome), I like to check Design Seeds.

Deb I am like you and have a really hard time with colors. I was at Barnes and Noble one day looking at books and happened on this book "Color Inspirations"......it is nothing but color pallettes.......Diane also recommends this book in the October edition of Soda Limes Times. I keep it by my torch/work table so I can flip through and see what catches my eye for the day. The website Shawnette posted is also part of this book.

Here is a link to the book at Barnes and Noble

Cool, I just got it for kindle!

I know it sure has been a life saver for me. Sometimes I go into the studio and just stare at the glass and say to myself.....what colors do I use today. Then I got this book and so I can just flip through the pages until something catches my eye.....and hopefully I have the colors.

Great websites, finding the right colors can be a real struggle indeed.

I get a lot of my inspiration from looking at the illustrations in kids' books.

Fabric websites. Oh, and the abstract section at www.caedes.net.

Colourlovers.com as well. I also love going to google images, searching a word like "fabric" or "flower" and clicking on one of the color boxes so it only shows shades of, say, pink or purple. Try this, for example - http://www.google.com/search?tbm=isc...w=1280&bih=892

I give some tips on color in the latest Soda Lime Times, too.

Hope this helps. :)

you have to have a gift for it i think - sometimes i look at the colours you put together and think 'wow, i just never would have done that but it looks fantastic'

i didnt know about the colour sorting thing on google - well! there you go!

Yep, I hear ya.
No problem with chucking any old lairy things together on my own bod, and the lairier the better. A far cry from making lovely beads with good colour combos.
Then again, my favourites are often accidental.

Ever since watching the movie, "My Life in Ruins", we've referred to google as "The Oracle".
