what type of exhaust it the right kind?
 

What is appropriate for exhaust? I can't afford to spend a lot of $. My husband says that an exhaust fan such as a bathroom fan should be enough. I am moving my studio to the garage which is quite large and easily changable.

Can you provide links to any sites that would be suitable? thanks

An fan that can pull 350-500 cfm or more is probably adequate BUT there is no guarantee unless you provide a system to capture flame plume and duct it outside. Its called a hood & ducting...

The bathroom fan is definitely NOT in this category. You are better off without any fan and convincing yourself you are safe than even thinking bathroom fan...

Stacie, the most expensive part of a ventilation system is the fan. The one recommended by jokersdesign is great; another one carried by the same vendor is the one I have:

I fabricated my own hood out of sheets of metal from Home Depot, and DH helped install the ducting and mounted the fan. I have a full thread about my studio in the Studio section with photos:
